Vintage furniture paired with a colorful room….YES PLEASE!

I was recently visiting my Nonna and was talking about the colors I want to paint the kitchen at our beach house. She lightly suggested that she always loved a soft teal paired with a bright green. Since she said that I can’t stop searching for inspiration with this color scheme!! This here is a little warmer than I want for my beach house kitchen, but inspiring none the less!!

Black and white stripes will always be my favorite!! I’m such a sucker for them. I can’t seem to help myself from not only painting them on furniture, but also buying clothes, shoes, and accessories with them and checker patterns on them. Are you a stripe person, or not?

I’ve been out of my workshop for almost 2 weeks now 😳. All for good reasons!!

Last week, I drove 7 hours to help my oldest daughter while she gave birth to our newest grandbaby. So for a few days, I had a 2-year-old (almost-3), a 1-year-old AND a newborn. 🥰

We now have THREE grandchildren under 3!

Let me tell you something…I’m a young grandmother. Most my age are becoming mothers for the first time. But these kids whipped my ass!! I came home exhausted 😴 !!

It’s taking me a few days to recover. Am I complaining? Hell no, just acknowledging that moms are absolute superhero’s to manage children all day!! I haven’t worked as hard as I did last week in over 15 years!!

And yes, I know what you’re thinking….how the heck are you a grandmother at 38? 😂 My stepdaughter is 28, and although technically she’s my stepdaughter, I’ve never really liked the word “step.” It makes it sound like there’s a separation or a barrier that simply isn’t there. I love my kids, and I love these babies, just like they’re all my own. And they are so, so good to me 🥰!!

Here’s the thing. I never even thought about having kids while growing up. I met my husband when I was only 18 and he had 2 already. Chyna and Mason. They began living with us when I was 20, and at 22 I had Reagan. I just fell into the mother roll and here I am. I always wanted a successful career. I wanted to be in corporate America. I wanted to be that “Boss Lady.”

But life has a way of giving you exactly what is best for you. My official belief in life everything always works out the very best for me. Now that I’m older and wiser I see how lucky I am to have just fallen into this role.

I imagine if I did take the role of working in corporate America, I would be craving exactly what I have today. And honestly, I’m NOT craving a corporate job at all!! Don’t try to hire me, okay 😂!!

I think that’s the lesson I keep learning over and over: the life you planned isn’t always the life that’s meant for you.

Sometimes we spend so much time chasing the version of success we THINK we want that we don’t recognize the beautiful life unfolding right in front of us.

I always say, everything works out for the very best for me.

And I genuinely believe it.

Because today, I have a family I adore, three little humans who completely exhaust me 😂, a life I never could have planned, and a career I get to create with my own hands.

And the best part? I’m not sitting here wishing I had the life I once thought I wanted!! Maybe that’s what winning actually looks like. ❤️

Keep going friends. Everything is always working out for you!!! But you have to truly believe it to your core. That’s how the magic 🪄 ignites ♥️♥️♥️.

I would guess only about 1 out of 20 pieces I create are painted upholstery, but they seem to inspire you all the most!! I can’t wait to see the beauties you’ve all created ☺️!!

This is STUNNING!!

A beautifully ornate antique dressing table featuring a graceful tri-fold mirror, carved woodwork, floral decoration, gilded accents, and elegant curved details. Its soft rose-toned finish gives it a romantic character, while the elaborate craftsmanship reflects an era when furniture was designed to be both functional and wonderfully decorative.

This actually isn’t a bad idea!! You could also use lace for texture instead of a rag or cheesecloth!! I may do this on the piece I’m working on!!

Use an old tablecloth to transfer beautiful patterns!

Looking for sunnier ☀️ days ahead here in Northwest Indiana. There’s still a lot of people on DAY TEN 🔟 without power 😩. Including my parents and siblings in Griffith, Indiana. If you’re still without power my heart is with you.

Checking in friends!! Are you in NWI? How are you holding up and did you have any damage??

Our area was impacted by a storm on Tuesday afternoon. My family is safe and we didn’t suffer any damage. Just some inconveniences with the power being out and cell service not working.

These are photos from my parent’s block where I grew up. I’m hearing it looks like this everywhere. Everyone is out of power and the gas lines are hours long. It’s like an apocalypse everywhere!! This is the largest power outage our area has ever experienced.

Everyone loves a good before photo!

One of my favorite pieces in my own home is this armoire I created over 6 years ago!! You can see the finished photo below!

Every time I sell out of my inventory my husband suggests I sell the pieces in our home like that would solve anything 😂. Like Curtis, where are you going to put your clothes if I sell this?
