I stare at a wall inside a shop that has been vacant and derelict for more than thirty years a small space around 200sf a boarded up window and plaster falling off the walls and in this moment I seize the day in my realization that this moment has been seven years in the making.

It may seem strange to some to leave your dream shop in California to move back to the UK to work in a workshop that was the same size as your office but there is more to this space and more to the story.

Guernsey Bench. Made from white oak and finished with a natural hard wax oil. This bench highlights stout joinery such as the sliding French dovetails for the underside and the tapered cylindrical tenons for the legs.

The Lincombe Bed. Hand turned solid maple spindles make this bed a dream for this holiday season.
As the year draws to an end it’s time to rest, reflect and be thankful for all that has been and for all that is to come.

I wanted to show the neat little half round detail on the middle rail tenon which I feel elevates this whole design and locks the whole table together.

The private clients I had for this table were so amazing after building them a custom walnut bench for their dining room inspired by a bench from their favorite coffee shop, they asked if I could build them a dining table to suit the dining area. I was able to have full design control and was so excited to build them their dining table for their new home later called the Messis table as I believe meals around a table are so important as well as the conversations and people we share those meals with.

Here’s to great clients and great food!

The Messis Dining Table, formed from antiquity built for today. The Messis dining table was inspired by the simple and beautiful idea of gathering together around the table communing with good friends and family, enjoying delectable food paired with exquisite drinks and experiencing life together.

Messi’s from the Latin meaning harvest felt like the perfect name to give such a table with its trestle base construction a design which dates back centuries in its original form. I added some contemporary design details and let the natural beauty of the woods grain do the rest.
