After being a loyal customer of Companion Pet Care in Forest Grove, Oregon, I have to search for a different veterinary care for my animals. I took my Service Dog in for neutering last Thursday. The surgery went well but what went wrong was the billing. When I made the appointment over a month ago, I was told it would cost around $300. 24 hours before the procedure they sent me a consent form that stated the average cost was between $400 to $900. I thought that was a bit much but I had faith that they would keep it close to the original quote of $300. The finished bill was over $750.

This veterinary clinic doesn’t have any up front pricing. They pad their bill with outrageous fee like, $110 for “Mature Dog fee” and an “Exam fee” for $68. That’s on top of the Neutering fee for $330. Shouldn’t the exam be included in the neutering fee?

Yes I was completely shock when I got the bill. I did get upset and a few swear words came out with my dismay. But now the clinic is trying to say I threatened them. Not true I only stated I will do my best to help educate people of their gross pricing policies. At no point did I state I was going to harm anyone or anything. So now I can’t trust them to tell the truth.

If anyone wants I will forward you copies of the emails from the clinic and my responses. Then let you come to your own conclusion. Veterinary Services are getting out of control and becoming a get rich quick scam. As a customer, we all need to stand up and demand transparency in the billing process. It should be fully disclosed at the time of making the appointment, not after the procedure when you can’t shop around for a better price for services. I understand that sometimes the cost can go up if there are unforeseen problems, but nothing with my dog’s procedure was out of the ordinary.

I only hope my story will help you to rethink how you may see your veterinarian for your pet care. To be able to demand transparency and fair pricing. Stand up to protect your pet and your wallet.

I’m formerly changing the name of this page. From this point forward you will be seeing stories of our veterans and ways I’m trying to assist in repairing their homes. I’m going to rename this page as The Veterans Handyman. My clientele would only be disabled veterans. As a disabled veteran myself, I want to help the people I can. This way I can bring everyone some DIY brake though in real time.

Wood dog training tables.

I built my own dog training tables to train my puppy. He is the long haired on the right. Most of the materials was acquired from different odd jobs. Yes scrap and surplus lumber.

By building this training tables I can now save money and conduct my own dog training.

This weekend I worked with a friend to build a fence for the front of his house. In total my friend spent around $1400 for the supplies. We used heavy hog wire panels and framed them in with dug fur 2x4’s. We capped the posts with led lighted post caps.

Went the home owner is done he will have filled in the gaps under the fence with concrete block. The gate will be a metal frame with cedar boards fasten to it. The metal frame will prevent the gate from swelling and shrinking due to changing weather conditions. Thus allowing the home owner to freely open the gate year around.
