This is an old design of mine that I haven't made in a while. Toboreht The Robot is made to be put together in lots of different ways. This is what he looks like when assembled in the usual way -- but you could put his legs growing out of his ears, or his arm coming out of his head. Any silly arrangement you can think of is fine! He won't mind one bit! And you can come see him -- and all my other toys and puzzles and housewares -- at the Conway, Arkansas Farmer's Market tomorrow morning!

It seems like I've been so busy making things that I keep forgetting to show you pictures of the things I'm making. But I've got some new items this season that are on the way. . . This toy toolbox isn't new -- I started making them last year -- but it includes seven wooden tools (two of which were in the box when I took the picture, but I promise they're in there!) This is good for hours of imaginative play (which hopefully doesn't include hammering anything breakable!) Come check it out -- along with lots more goodies -- this Saturday morning at the Conway, Arkansas Farmer's Market !

I had two customers last week who wanted a butterfly mini-puzzle. And in the cluttered mess that I call a workshop, I found a scrap of a wood I don't usually work with, called purpleheart. Here's the result. I hope they like it! Come see everything else I've made at the Conway, Arkansas Farmer's Market today at 150 Amity Road!

I just finished cutting this puzzle, and I haven't yet sanded it or put on the finish, but I wanted y'all to see it anyway, since I don't know when I'll make another. I work almost exclusively with familiar North American hardwoods -- oak, beech, maple, cherry, poplar, black walnut, and so on. But I happened to get a piece of a rather exotic wood from the estate of a deceased woodworkers who loved collecting exotic woods. It's native to Central America, and it's called leopardwood for its naturally spotted pattern. So since I had a piece of leopardwood. . . the obvious thing to make with it was a leopard.

How will this puzzle look once it's been sanded and finished? Come by this week's Conway, Arkansas Farmer's Market this Saturday morning, and find out!

It's more than five months away. . . but the Petit Jean Farmers' Market holds their Apple Butter Festival every October. It couldn't be simpler -- people cook apples down into apple butter in big kettles over open fires. And yet there's something about it -- the community that puts it on creates the most wonderful, friendly atmosphere. You're going to want to be there. Mark your calendars now. Really. Do it.

I'm still a little sad over the closing of Urban Timbers 's store in Conway. I got so much beautiful wood from them, including species that are hard to find anywhere else. And I learned a lot just by poking around in the store. . . Anyway, the store may be gone, but the magic lingers on. Anyone who's interested in picking up unique locally harvested wood should go by their bundle sale on May 30! I may not make it -- that's a market day for me -- but I encourage anyone interested in woodworking of any sort to come by and see what they've got.

πŸ”₯ Mark your calendars! πŸ”₯

Join us the LAST Saturday of this month for the Urban Timbers Bundle Sale! πŸͺ΅

Find unique hardwoods, incredible deals, and one-of-a-kind lumber perfect for your next project. Come early, bring a trailer, and dig through the bundles!

See y’all at the yard πŸ‘Š

I designed this tray puzzle myself about four years ago, and I've been tweaking the design ever since then. I don't make one of these often, because it frankly is a lot of work -- but it's quite satisfying when it's done. The animals pack into this Noah's Ark puzzle, two by two -- you'll find two elephants, two giraffes, two toucans, two alligators. . . And the weather looks to be sunny this Saturday, with no flood expected -- so come out and see this puzzle, plus my usual lineup of puzzles, toys, and housewares, PLUS locally produced meat, veggies, eggs, honey, bread, sweets, and handcrafts from your friendly neighborhood farmers and crafters. It's all there at the Conway, Arkansas Farmer's Market this Saturday morning from 8 AM to noon, at Antioch Baptist Church! See you there!
