🎄This Christmas, I gave Lucas the "gift" of building us a custom bookshelf—how thoughtful of me, right?! 😏 Built perfectly to fit our space and our growing collection of books, including his current obsession: the Red Rising series.

We haven’t been in the workshop as much lately because we’ve been diving into our fitness journey (check out our personal IG pages for more on that 💪 .brown.3386 ), BUT this project brought us back to what we love about woodworking—creating something meaningful and built to last.

How it all began...

We’re your typical family... 2 full-time working parents, 3 kids, 2 dogs, the whole nine yards. We recently moved into a new home and decided it was time for a new bed frame. Instead of spending an astronomical amount on something pre-fabricated, likely to fall apart in our next PCS move, we decided to build one ourselves. Lucas, the now semi-professional contractor, realized that building this wouldn’t be a simple feat. He spent hours measuring, cutting, sanding and drilling. In the end, his product was beatufil and it opened the door for me, his wife, to re-discover my artistic side. With my husband by my side, I stained the frame and together, we created our first masterpiece. The small projects to follow used up the extra lumber and paint from the bed; we were and still are all about using scraps to create even more!
