Welcome!

Hi all and welcome to Furniture of a Different Color! I have been so nervous yet excited to share my work and start a page. After becoming an empty nester I did not know how I wanted to spend my time. I have been a caretaker for over three fourths of my life. This is my first year not watching my grandbabies, even writing this makes me sad because I feel as if I should be watching them. Although, my oldest daughter is getting to pursue her career which makes me an extremely proud mom. I finally feel as if I am doing something for me. Last year, I was diagnosed with shingles then discovered that I had skin cancer and I knew then that I wanted to start pursuing my dreams. I stumbled across Dixie Belle paint videos, then became a Dixie Belle retailer at Picker’s Paradise in Columbus, Indiana. After becoming a retailer, I started going to multiple rummage sales and picking out furniture that needed to be rescued. I watched many artists on Facebook and got a lot of inspiration. I enjoy giving new life to furniture, and feel as if I am a caretaker of furniture now (as funny as that sounds). I repurpose, reclaim, refresh, recycle, renew, rejuvenate these treasures. My furniture and paint can be found at Picker’s Paradise in Columbus, Indiana.
