I spend enough time around barrels to appreciate what oak can do - and also what happens when it does too much.
I tried King of Kentucky Batch 2 the other day and, for me, the oak and tannin just took over. Great wh***ey underneath it, but I had to fight through the barrel to find it.
Picked up this Blade & Bow 12 Year Solera Reserve today and this is much more my speed. Dark brown sugar up front, baking spice, cigar and to***co behind it, with plenty of mature oak without turning into an oak bomb.
And here’s the funny part - I would personally take this over the KOK Batch 2.
If you’re looking for a 12+ year wh***ey without spending stupid money chasing hype, don’t overlook bottles like this. Randy Jackson , you need to pick this one up!
Sometimes the bottle getting all the clout isn’t the better pour. Blade and Bow Bourbon Wh***ey 🔥🔥👏🏽🔥🔥
