Most people saw a water-damaged dresser headed for the trash. I saw potential.
A little creativity, a few repairs, and some elbow grease later...I'd say she cleaned up pretty well 😍

Would you have stopped for this one?

Tiny cracks don’t always need expensive products or complicated repairs.

I used wood glue + sanding dust to fill this hairline crack, then blended everything together with a brown paint wash instead of a traditional dark stain. Simple fixes like this can completely change a piece.

Cherry veneer + aggressive sanding = a recipe for regret

Instead, I used stripper to safely remove the chalk paint and reveal the wood grain underneath without damaging the veneer. SUCH a satisfying transformation.

Comment “strip” for the products I used.

I stripped the old finish, cleaned away the residue, lightly sanded, and used a simple paintwash technique to soften the orange tones while still letting the wood grain shine through.

Comment “WASH” and I’ll send you my free guide on how I achieved this look 🤍

Old hardware holes don’t have to haunt your furniture flips forever.

A little Bondo + sanding = smooth finish from every angle ✨

Stop guessing where to drill hardware holes.

Using a hardware jig made it so much easier to get clean, evenly spaced hardware without constantly measuring and second guessing placement.

Small details like this really do change the final look. Do you struggle with hardware placement?

This dresser was giving full 80s wall paneling energy 😭

I filled the deep grooves with bondo, spot puttied the smaller imperfections, then sanded and primed until the surface was completely smooth. A good paint finish starts LONG before the paint goes on

Are you a fan of 80s wall paneling?

Stop sanding paint off furniture like this…

I used stripper first to remove layers of old blue paint from this solid pine cabinet before refinishing it into a hidden cat litter cabinet. It saves SO much sanding time—and honestly, scraping paint off is weirdly satisfying 😅

Some people skip the repair and go straight to paint.

Repairing the veneer, blending the damage, and sealing everything creates a professional finish.

Was this repair worth the end result?

Tired of orange oak cabinets?

I used acetone to remove the old finish (not all finishes will lift this way), then used a paint wash to calm down those loud orange tones without hiding the wood grain.

Same cabinets. Better tone.

I used a soft taupe paint wash to calm down the orange without covering the wood grain. Such a simple change, but it completely modernized the finish.

Comment “wash” and I’ll send the guide + exact steps.
