Carl's Mobile Truck Alignments

Carl's Mobile Truck Alignments Tractor trailer alignment, tire wear and handling expert. Welcome to my professional page. Number one issue is running under inflated.

We will be discussing tire wear and handling issues for large trucks, trailers and rvs. In a typical long haul operation good quality steer tires, properly maintained, will run for 200,000 miles or more. Few drivers are aware of the fact they are doing this. If you are seeing wear patterns that are on the inside ribs of any tire running the circumference of the tire it is highly likely you are run

ning under inflated. Today's trucks have larger, heavier engines with added displacement and added weight of emissions devices putting more weight on the steer axle. They carry close to 12,000 lbs when the truck is empty. If you are running anything less than 110 psi in your steers you are under inflated. Just remember the three biggest factors in tire maintenance are inflation, inflation, inflation. Always check tire pressures cold, use a good quality gauge and check its calibration at least twice a year. Thanks for reading this post and if you have questions about tire wear or handling issues don't hesitate to ask me anything. I'm here to help you get the most out of every tire dollar spent

Spring is right around the corner. Days are getting longer and roads are getting clear of snow, except Wyoming, and it,s time to really get a look at your truck. This is the time of year many drivers purchase tires. Also a really good time for an alignment and tire wear evaluation.
If you're planning to buy tires this spring it is best to have any alignment work done while the old tires are still on the truck. They tell the real story of what you may need to address as far as alignment and tire wear issues. No alignment machine can tell what is going on by looking at your tires. Most times at a tire shop that does alignments the alignment tech doesn't even see the old tires. That is where we differ. As an M.D Alignment tech I have been trained to spot critical areas of your unit to detect even the most subtle clues leading to handling or tire wear issues.
So if tires are on your spring maintenance list call me. We can set up a time to evaluate your truck and extend your tire life.
I serve eastern Iowa and western Illinois. So if you're traveling through the area on I80 U.S. 218 U.S 34 or I74 I will come to you so you don't have to use up your hours to get your service done.
Contact me through Facebook messenger and I offer no "call out" fee in this area.
Thanks.

Ever wonder about that funny looking wear pattern that shows up just on the inside rib of a tire?
It's there on single and dual configurations on a lot of trucks and can be a bear to get rid of.
Mostly, but not always, caused by the tire moving to a toed out position while going down the road. I know of people having alignment after alignment done and still not fixed the issue. The truth is that alignment is rarely the culprit and no computerized alignment machine in the world can catch it when it's not.
You need a person with knowledge and experience to see, feel and reason out the problem. Machines just don"t have that logic to know to look at the tire wear and ask the necessary questions.
That's why myself and many others are here, to help.
If you're experiencing this type of situation I'm here to help.
Saturday Feb the 3rd is the Peoria truck show, I plan to be there if you are going and want a no charge tire and alignment evaluation let me know.
Thanks and drive safe
