KOPN Tour – April 23

For our open night 2 weeks from now, we'll be taking a field trip to the local KOPN radio station! KOPN has graciously offered to give us a tour of their radio station facility, including some of their very cool equipment and studios. If you'd like to participate, please join our discord sever (link on our website) and check the annoucements page. You can meet us at the KOPN station at 6:30 (at 401 Bernadette Drive), or carpool from the CGW shop between 6PM and 6:15.

Soldering Class and Art in the Park

Just a reminder that the CGW soldering class will be March 26th at 6pm. We'll be going over hand soldering and reflow/SMD soldering techniques with free giveaways! Also, CGW is planning to have a booth at Art in the Park (June 6 and 7). If you're interested in showcasing projects for CGW or hanging out at the booth, please get in touch!

This Thursday is the free machining class at the CGW Makerspace at 6pm. Jeff will be teaching the basics of metalworking with a Bridgeport milling machine and other equipment.

This Friday will be our annual meeting to discuss the CGW organization - at Burr Oak Brewery at 6pm. Attendance is open to all, but totally optional. Come give your opinon for how to improve CGW!

Join us at Columbia Gadget Works TOMORROW on Thursday, October 30 at 6pm for our first class of the Community Maker Series.

This session: Meshtastic – a low-cost, open-source system that uses LoRa radios to create long-range, off-grid communication networks. Participants will learn how the devices work, how to set them up, and practical ways they can be used for community projects, outdoor activities, or emergency preparedness.

Participants will receive a free Meshtastic device to keep (limited supply- please consider bringing your own meshtastic device and USB power source if you want help with setup).

The Community Maker Series runs for five months, with a new hands-on project every 3rd Thursday through February!

Financial assistance for this program has been provided by the City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs.
