Westchester Woodworking

Westchester Woodworking We are a family owned & operated cabinet shop that designs & builds cabinetry for every room of your home in business since 1982.

The word "custom" conjures up visions of dollar signs. In reality it only means YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT! Being a custom shop means we have the ability to adjust details in order to obtain your goal. For instance, changing the type of drawer slide may make the adjustment needed to reach your budget. Being a custom shop we can also take advantage of dips in the cost of certain woods. In other words when the price of cherry drops, you get the benefit.

This was a special project. This spalted maple table went from being part of a lovely maple tree that became a danger, to being a useful piece of furniture that will reside less than 50 from where it grew.
It started in 2023 when the tree had to come down. It dried for a year in log form. In 2024 it was cut into slabs and stored and dried for another year and a half. Late in 2025 we began to work it at the shop until its delivery back to where it first sprouted roots.
Special thanks to:
Mike Charnetski for milling the log, Dillon Rakowski for the hours of sand, Christopher Richards for the beautiful finishing, Jim Fromerth for helping with design and construction, Jim Oien for the dog bone computer files, Paul Picard for fabricating the metal brackets that connect the top to the legs, and Charlene Picard for the photos from start to finish. Thank you all for your work and enthusiasm!

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Past Colchester Fire Chief and Life Member Rob Brown. Rob was also a dedicated Firefighter with Salem Volunteer Fire Company.

Chief Brown served both his and surrounding communities with honor, commitment, and pride. His loss will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege to know and serve alongside him.

Wake & Funeral arrangements are pending and will be shared once they are finalized.

Please keep Chief Brown’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

After almost 10 years with us our finisher has decided to retire. Now he’s not comfortable in the spotlight, and he wouldn’t want me to post this, but I am so appreciative of the work he’s done for us I felt I had to say something. You may or may not know who he is. He works as far from our front door as you can get, but you have seen his work. He has literally put the “finishing touch “ on everything that has come out of the shop since he started working here. The quality we are known for is in no small part, the quality of the finish he has provided. While we will miss him and his talent. We are so happy for him as he starts his well deserved retirement. Thank you CB, we wish you well!
We are actively looking for someone to replace him. Let me know if you know anyone who might want to become part of our team. Message me and I can share the job description and requirements.
