In Loving Memory of John D. Runge 🤍 July 6, 1938 – October 11, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John Runge, a beloved member of the Runge Furniture family and the Coeur d'Alene community.
John dedicated much of his life to Runge Furniture, the family business founded by his father, Floyd, in 1946. He proudly carried on the family legacy, working at the store until he was 80 years old.
To John, Runge Furniture was always about more than selling furniture. It was about the people. He loved getting to know his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Even after retiring, he often said what he missed most was his customers.
John's love for his community extended far beyond the store. He was active in the Jaycees, the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce, and 4-H, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with younger generations. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in the beautiful North Idaho wilderness.
Above all, John was a devoted family man. He met the love of his life, Nancy, at Coeur d'Alene High School, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud father of four, grandfather of eleven, and great-grandfather of ten.
Known for his warm smile, quick wit, and friendly conversations, John had a way of making everyone feel welcome and leaving them with a smile of their own.
We are forever grateful for his dedication to Runge Furniture, his family, and the Coeur d'Alene community he loved so much. His legacy will continue to live on through the family business and the countless lives he touched.
Thank you, John, for everything. You will be deeply missed. 🤍
