Here’s a project I’m really stoked about. The gentleman I made this executive desk for found 5 huge walnut trees that had come down in a tremendous storm in 2020. He had the wood sawn, dried it, and sent it to me.
I designed and built this desk among other things for him. A traditional finish of linseed oil and wax made this an heirloom quality, one of a kind piece.
The hardware was purchased from Etsy but we weren’t satisfied with it as it appeared a bit pedestrian. It spent a few hours in my wood stove and was then smashed with a ball peen hammer to give it unique hand made flavor.
The desk has a hidden compartment with a removable walnut box. For obvious reasons, not shown here.
I truly enjoy the opportunity to build this kind of furniture that will be loved long after I am gone.

Here is a fireplace surround I recently made for a woman on an East Fallowfield horse farm. The mantle it is replacing was awkwardly tall and somewhat plain. I think this will be a tremendous improvement.

Here is a section of wainscot I made for a Brownstone in Brooklyn. This will go on a staircase between the first and second floors. As with so much millwork in these homes, the original had fallen into disrepair. I had knives ground to match the existing moldings and reproduced it exactly as it was.

I wrapped up the year with one last delivery to Brooklyn yesterday. The mahogany front doors stand a mighty ten feet tall and the walnut vestibule door checks in at nine feet. These will take their place in a grand row of like entryways on Carroll street.

This is a pair of doors for a brownstone in Brooklyn. At 7’ feet tall they are on the smaller end of the spectrum, but will make a handsome entry nonetheless.

Here is a walnut vestibule door I made for Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn. A reproduction of the original made from measurements taken from a neighboring home. It’s every bit of 9’ tall and 36” wide.

I put this door and window combination I made in a new entryway in Chestnut Hill a couple months ago. I went back today to measure for some book shelves and was able to get a couple photos of the finished product after pointing and paint.

This is a cedar door I put on the sauna at a club in NYC. The door is made with a laminated lumber core, as are most doors I make. This lends a great deal of stability because the temperature varies about 50 degrees from one side of the door to the other.
