Furniture photos lie (or omit the truth at the very least!). Not on purpose — they just can't carry everything real wood does.
Three things you'll never see online:
The grain — photos flatten the variation. In person, every board has character.
The joinery — catalog crops hide what holds the piece together. Dovetails, mortise-and-tenon, solid wood backs. Those details that make a piece FEEL like quality furniture.
The finish — flat lighting mutes the depth. Real wood under real light is a different thing. Vibrant reds, deep browns and cool beiges just don't pop in photos.
This isn't a Barewood thing — it's a real-wood thing. If you're shopping anywhere, this is what to look for in person.
Or come on in. We'll show you what photos can't. ❤️
