This Dixie dresser is a vintage charmer from the mid-century era, known for its graceful bowed fronts, carved floral appliqués, and iconic oval hardware. Pieces from this line were built with style in mind.
This particular piece was a commissioned refinish that had seen a life. There were pet scratches on nearly every drawer, dents and bruising throughout, and areas of chipped veneer. It showed just about every issue you expect to uncover in well-used furniture. It also had the most red aniline dye I've ever encountered. Stripped to raw wood, neutralized, toned, and sealed to let the grain tell its story without the red overpowering it. This one is headed for a vanity conversion, and I can't wait to see it installed!
