Home Tour day 6:
So, you have seen all of the inside of my house, and since spring is so close we can almost taste it, here are two spaces that I am longing to use once we completely thaw from the winter....our front porch and back deck/covered porch.
My front porch is long and narrow so I had work with what I had. These are pictures from last spring so a few thing have changed but not much. The two stand out pieces I have located here are the rocking chair and the dresser, both finished in an awesome yellow. The dresser was my husbands grandmother's and I just love that we were able to breathe life back into it because honestly I was ready to send it to the dump. One thing that is a must for me is a wreath on my door. I have one for absolutely almost every season, and most are homemade. In addition to the rocking chair, I also have two accent chairs with numbered pillows that are actually our address!! Since these pictures were taken I found the coolest lantern that I painted and hung in between these two chairs as well. The bulb box is from Target, the address sign over our mailbox was made by me. The two pots that flank either side of the door (not yet filled at this point with foliage) are the cheaper plastic ones from Home depot that I turned over, stacked and bolted together to give them the grand look of the super expensive ones. I also usually have something hung in the blank space over the rocking chair depending on the season.
Our back yard still has LOTS of things I would love to do with it (a work in progress for sure) BUT we made some changes to it last year that I just ADORE! We had the patio seating area set but I bought a couple outdoor rugs and some nice bright coordinating pillows to spruce it up. I made curtains with outdoor material (waaay cheaper than the magazines but that fabric is still pretty darn high y'all) The table and chairs set and the new matching coffee table was my Mother's Day present. The hanging lantern over the table is a clearance HomeGoods flameless candle lantern that is very similar to some at Restoration Hardware that are about $275. I think I paid $15 for mine. I also made ball jar lanterns that hang on the posts that I filled with sand and votives, they are hanging on plant hangers. We have open decks on either side of our covered area that I have some GRAND PLANS for, so hopefully we'll be able to start those soon!!!
Well, that's it!!! Hope you all enjoyed the tour!!!!
I would love to feature your house or even just a room!!! So keep sending in those submissions!!! :)
