Home Tour day 6:
So, you have seen all of the inside of my house, and since spring is so close we can almost taste it, here are two spaces that I am longing to use once we completely thaw from the winter....our front porch and back deck/covered porch.
My front porch is long and narrow so I had work with what I had. These are pictures from last spring so a few thing have changed but not much. The two stand out pieces I have located here are the rocking chair and the dresser, both finished in an awesome yellow. The dresser was my husbands grandmother's and I just love that we were able to breathe life back into it because honestly I was ready to send it to the dump. One thing that is a must for me is a wreath on my door. I have one for absolutely almost every season, and most are homemade. In addition to the rocking chair, I also have two accent chairs with numbered pillows that are actually our address!! Since these pictures were taken I found the coolest lantern that I painted and hung in between these two chairs as well. The bulb box is from Target, the address sign over our mailbox was made by me. The two pots that flank either side of the door (not yet filled at this point with foliage) are the cheaper plastic ones from Home depot that I turned over, stacked and bolted together to give them the grand look of the super expensive ones. I also usually have something hung in the blank space over the rocking chair depending on the season.
Our back yard still has LOTS of things I would love to do with it (a work in progress for sure) BUT we made some changes to it last year that I just ADORE! We had the patio seating area set but I bought a couple outdoor rugs and some nice bright coordinating pillows to spruce it up. I made curtains with outdoor material (waaay cheaper than the magazines but that fabric is still pretty darn high y'all) The table and chairs set and the new matching coffee table was my Mother's Day present. The hanging lantern over the table is a clearance HomeGoods flameless candle lantern that is very similar to some at Restoration Hardware that are about $275. I think I paid $15 for mine. I also made ball jar lanterns that hang on the posts that I filled with sand and votives, they are hanging on plant hangers. We have open decks on either side of our covered area that I have some GRAND PLANS for, so hopefully we'll be able to start those soon!!!
Well, that's it!!! Hope you all enjoyed the tour!!!!
I would love to feature your house or even just a room!!! So keep sending in those submissions!!! :)

Home Tour day 5:
Today you will see my Living Room and my Dining Room!!
These are 2 of my favorite rooms. I really love the flow of my house. My kitchen goes straight to my dining room and that goes right on into my living room, ....and then actually right out to our porch!! It has proven to be a great entertaining home with the nice open spaces.
When we first moved into our house I had complete intentions of getting new couches as I was totally over what we had. But when we moved them in, they just fit. I really actually loved them in the space....so I just designed around them. I used the pillows and furniture for the color in the room and left everything else pretty neutral. The curtains are burlap that I spray painted with white stripes. All the tables including the cocktail ottoman were Craigslist finds that I spruced up. The blankets are from Restoration Hardware, the pillows are from HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, or sellers on Etsy, The lamps are from HomeGoods or are vintage that have been spray painted and the yellow chevron shades are from Target, the other 2 are from HomeGoods.
In the dining room I have kept it fairly simple. Our table works great for our large family with 2 leaves so it could hold 6 or less unopened or up to 10 fully expanded ....(or like we have done in the past 12-14 with kiddos on the bench from the kitchen and every chair we have in the house pulled up) But I am totally over the black....I have REALLY been begging the hubby to help me turn this table into a wood planked farmhouse table or to build me one, so we'll see! Also in this space is our buffet, old dresser turned buffet, that is! This is one of the areas I use to decorate depending on the season, so whats on top, is constantly changing. Almost everything else in the room was a craft project of some sort, for example...the mossy "C", the skeleton key art, and the plate stand made from an old dish and a candle stick! :)
Hope you enjoyed day 5!
Stay tuned tomorrow for sadly our last day, my front porch and back deck!

Home Tour day 4:
So today begins with my kitchen which is probably the room with the biggest "To Do" list attached to it. While it is a really nice functional space that I do like a lot, ...there are several things that I would really love to do with it. First off, I am DYING to paint the cabinets and island, I love the floors and would really like to see more contrast between the two. I'm thinking white uppers and smokey grey bottoms and island. We also have been shopping around for the perfect backsplash for almost 2 years now but nothing has jumped out at me! Usually I know what I like as soon as I see it, but this one has been difficult! The last thing that I want to do is get a new slab of granite for the island so we can increase the size in order to have an overhang on 3 sides to accommodate a bar stool at the ends. A couple of my favorite things in this room are the skylight that brings in some much needed natural light since we are lacking a window over the sink, my Coffee Bar that I refinished that houses all our much needed coffee drinking needs, and my menu board and kids doodle chalkboard right below it!! Almost all the decor in this room either came from HomeGoods, Target, or was a Thrift store rehab.
Next is the most gigantic half bath I have ever seen!!! It really is huge!! Although my pictures are less than stellar (sorry). I also have intentions on painting in this room, I would like to do the little ladder shelf, but still deciding on what color and if I want to change up the decor a little since it was decorated when we moved in with just a hodge podge of "left overs" I didn't know where to put!
Last for today is the kids bathroom upstairs. When I saw that long wall when we first moved in, I immediately envisioned a "wall of towels"! I had seen it somewhere, and just thought it was the cutest idea. So everyone has their own towel and hook with their picture above it!! Speaking of, its time to updates those pics!! :) All the towels and bath mats are from Pottery Barn as well as the soap and toothbrush holders (I think you have probably learned by now, I like Pottery Barn just a little bit!) The shower curtain and window curtain are from Target and all the frames were Thrift store throw aways that I painted and put cute little prints with fun bathroom sayings in.
Hope you enjoyed day 4!!!!
Tomorrow will be our living room and dining room!!!

Home Tour day 3:
These are 2 of the more FUN rooms in our home, the playroom and my craft room! I am one of those moms who has a REALLY hard time parting with my children's beautiful artwork, so I thought this would be the perfect space to display some of my favorites!! The cubbies are from Ikea, the lamp is from The Land of Nod, The chairs are from Pottery Barn, a couple trinkets are from Home Goods and the banners are handmade from a seller on Etsy. We made a couple changes to this room at Christmas when Santa brought an indoor trampoline!!! So a little rearranging and no more train table to make room for it in the back corner!
Next is my craft room. We have a room right off our kitchen that is supposed to be the formal living area, but really, who needs that anymore right. When I first saw it, I knew it would make the perfect craft room. So I went on Pinterest and put my husband to work and together we created this fantastic work space. We took 6 small bookshelves and used them as the framework to hold up 3 basic unfinished doors from Home depot. My husband cut them to fit and bolted everything together and voila, a custom craft table. It originally was my intent to stain and seal the doors, but I really love the raw look. The hutch of course is my favorite in the room though. I love the bright pop of color it adds to the space and it holds A TON!!! For art I framed some prints with some funny crafty saying, such as I'm cheap therefore I craft or Happiness is a warm glue gun. Then I blew up some of my favorite kiddo pictures and framed them for the walls!
Hope you enjoyed day 3!!!!
Tomorrow will be the kitchen and a couple bathrooms! :)

Home tour day 2:
These are my kids rooms! We have a 4 bedroom house but chose to have them share rooms in order to have a much needed playroom. So, we have the 2 girls in a room and our 3 boys in the other. What completely makes the boys' room is the fantastic triple bunk bed!! I love this bed and even better so do they!! I'm not a huge "theme room" person but both rooms do have one I guess you could say. The boys' is red, white, and blue and sports. The beds all have the rugby stripe duvets...theyare from Pottery Barn as well as the big wall mural. The dresser was re-vamped by me in homemade chalk paint and the growth chart was a fun first project using my Silhouette machine. The "art" on the shelves are Salvation Army t-shirts wrapped on a canvas. As soon as the baby is out of his crib, that space will house a new long dresser.
The girls' theme is "surfer girl" When my youngest daughter moved into a big girl bed I went on a hunt to find matching vintage headboards. I'm happy to say I found exactly what I was envisioning in my head and painted and distressed them to match. The bedding again is from Pottery Barn, not matchy-matchy, but all coordinating. And did you notice the grass skirt bed skirts!!! One of my favorite pieces (maybe because it is the first thing I ever redid) is also in their room, the AMAZING dresser!!! I just love this dresser....and the mirror too!! They also have a wall mural from Pottery Barn as is green surf board and lamp shade. The shelves were made by my husband and stained and dry brushed by me. The nicknacks and frames are either craft day creations or Home Goods finds. I really enjoyed decorating these rooms and overall am happy with the way they turned out!!!
Hope you enjoyed day 2!! :) Tomorrow will be the playroom and the craft room!!!

Home Tour: Part 1-
I thought I'd start with one of my favorite rooms in my house! The MASTER BEDROOM. I love this room for so SO many reasons! I still remember when where house shopping and we first saw this room! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!! Aside from the sheer size of this room,... it has great character, and I love that!! The huge beam that runs through the center, the beautiful stone fireplace, the big windows that let in TONS of light!! I just love ALL of it!! I believe that everyone deserves a little place in their home that is their retreat. Believe me with 5 kids that place is hard to find sometimes! :)
Style wise this room, like most of the rooms in my home, is forever evolving. As a whole I am really happy with this room, BUT...there are definitely still a few things that need tweaking. For instance the terrible ottomans at the end of the bed that we have had FOREVER (I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect replacement) The baby cradle that is still in our room to fill empty space (my "baby" is 2 now) The black furniture that I'm not in love with anymore but don't know what color to use to freshen it up. Things I AM in love with however are: my handmade headboard, my Pottery Barn faux fur throw (softest thing ever y'all), my navy and teal color scheme, and my wall of my babies!!
Hope you enjoyed day 1! Stay tuned for tomorrow....Kids rooms!! :)

So, as some of you know, I don't just paint furniture... I also am a lover of all things crafty and (my very favorite) HOME DECOR! Another thing I LOVE is seeing what other people's houses look like. If peeking in windows wasn't creepy I'd probably do it! Haha! Just kidding, that makes me sound kinda creepy just saying that! :)
Anyway, I thought I would give you all a peek into the Thumbprint Furnishings home! I have NUMEROUS painted pieces that can give you TONS of ideas of what perhaps could be done to a hidden jewel already sitting in your own home right this very minute!
Have some furniture I have done in your house, or maybe something you did yourself, or maybe just a room you want to show off and want to have it featured here?? Send me a message!
I will start tomorrow with our first HOME TOUR....my house! :)
