The Customer I built this desk for supplied the lumber. It's called "spalted" maple. The gentleman runs a tree removal service and, this is lumber he has salvaged from the trees he has removed. What makes this wood unique is the fact that, as the tree was growing, insects bored into it and stained the wood as it worked its' way through it. This resulted in the streaks and worm holes that are seen in the finished product
