The Skyline Club

The Skyline Club "...the dignified elegance of aged beauty, and the timeless warmth of good company" The interior’s original paintings and furnishings still remain today.

The Skyline Club - Club History

The unpretentious beginning of the Skyline Club started as an Eighteenth Century Pub in Sussex region of southern England. This pub was carefully dismantled and reconstructed at its present site almost 100 years ago. The Skyline Club is indeed the oldest private membership facility in Chicago. The Skyline Club was closed for renovation this year and was excited to

announce its reopen in the fall of 2013. This was a time of restoration, modernization, and improvements. Below is the original text from the new member pamphlet given to new members and inquiring persons. Tradition

From the Sky-Line Club’s unpretentious beginnings as an Eighteenth Century English Pub, to its present location atop the Old Republic Building, it has been a welcoming place with a dignified atmosphere committed to tradition. Originally located in the Sussex region of southern England, the old ale house was carefully dismantled and reconstructed at its present site almost 100 years ago. Paintings and furnishings from the original pub grace the interior today. With this 200 years of history, The Sky-Line Club is indeed the oldest private membership facility in Chicago. Capsuled within the stately décor of the club, members have watched the City’s skyline evolve into a Twenty-First Century metropolis. A Chicago reporter once described the club as having “the dignified elegance of aged beauty, and the timeless warmth of good company.”

Elegance

The Sky-Line is one of the smallest, yet amount the most captivation clubs in Chicago – and may be one of the City’s best kept secrets. Its charming facilities include the handsomely furnished pub-like main dining room, the warmly paneled library, and the “country English” private dining room. Each space is designed to serve groups of varying sizes. The rooms are available to members upon request for private meetings as well as social use. The Club is surrounded by an open air portico which invites you to gaze upon the spectacle of the city. It is the ideal place to entertain friends and business associates or simply enjoy a quiet lunch. (Recently added is the outdoor rooftop terrace. Dining and socializing are most desired in this beautiful space looking out to one of the best views in the city.) Congeniality

The Sky-Line Club membership is invitational. Limited membership (less than 300) creates an intimate and friendly atmosphere unique among big city clubs. Membership is comprised of men and women from widely different fields of endeavors. The selective membership approach of The Sky-Line Club provides the benefits of membership at costs far below other exclusive clubs. Professional service is provided by gracious staff, proudly skilled in courtesy and hospitality giving specific attention to detail. Location
Centered in the heart of the City’s main business districts – between the “Magnificent Mile” and the bustling Loop, The Sky-Line Club offers members optimum convenience. As a premier private club, the Sky-Line is unparalleled.
