Vintage sports decor is taking over… and I totally get why. 👀🎾

This week’s scroll started with one old tennis racket… and then suddenly I was seeing them everywhere.

Old skis on the wall. Vintage basketballs. Golf clubs mixed into a gallery wall. Baseball gloves framed like art. And of course, tennis rackets in just about every room imaginable.

But I think what I love most is that none of it was originally meant to be decor.

These pieces already have a story. They bring in a little nostalgia, a little history, and something unexpected that makes a room feel so much more personal.

And honestly, the more worn-in they are, the better. 🤎

So apparently we’re in our vintage sports era… and I’m very into it.

The things we love - and why. 🤎

Looking back at where our house started always gets me. We’ve changed a LOT, but every decision has really been about making this house feel like us and work for the way our family actually lives.

From warming up the entry and adding a stair runner that has definitely earned its keep with four boys 😂, to completely transforming the kitchen into the place where everyone gathers - every space has its own reason behind it.

We kept the things we loved, changed the things that made sense for us, and added plenty of color, pattern and personality along the way.

And honestly, that’s my favorite part. Watching a house slowly become your home. 🤎

Paint or stain? Honestly… we LOVE both. 🤎

Some of my favorite furniture transformations are the BIG ones - a completely unexpected paint color that makes you say, WAIT, that’s the same piece?! 😂

And then there are pieces where we uncover gorgeous wood grain, change the stain, revive the finish and suddenly remember just how beautiful that piece already was.

After years of refinishing furniture, I’ve learned that the fun isn’t choosing paint vs. stain. It’s knowing which one will make that particular piece shine.

So how do we decide? 👀

I’m sharing exactly what I look for - from the wood itself to how the piece will be used and even what the rest of the room needs in this week’s Meg’s Tuesday Tips.
