Will This Angled Box Joint Even Work? If you’ve ever made a box joint, you’ve probably wondered: “What happens if you cut it at an angle?” In this test, I tried making one with 100° and 80° cuts, as shown in the video — but it turns out there are a few challenges with this setup! I was figuring things out as I went, so I’m sure there are better ways to do it — but I’ll definitely try again 👍 I post woodworking shorts every day! A Joint That Shouldn’t Work I’m always trying to create joints that no one has ever seen before, and for a long time I’ve wanted to connect a round dowel using dovetail keys. This time, I modified my swing-type router table and machined grooves directly into the round dowel. I spent a lot of time deciding how many dovetail keys to use, but eventually settled on six. A New Way to Join Round Wood I made a new jig for joining round wood, so I turned it into a video! Plug Cutter Hack A wooden hinge box feels complicated and hard to attempt for most DIYers, doesn’t it? After watching a great video by my friend , I felt like I could give it a try myself. Can You See the Curve? The other day, I showed a swing-style circle-cutting jig. This time, I modified it into a box joint jig so you can clearly see the swinging curve! Pro Dowel-Making Technique You Can Try! My friend made an amazing video on dowels for wooden hinges, so I gave it a try! I tried to use as little equipment as possible. Jigs can tear tricky grain, and even table saw or router jigs don’t always give a smooth finish.
