God Speed John Saladino🪩 For decades I’ve carried a torn out page of this iconic room ripped out from a 1990s Elle Decor to every humble apartment I moved to. I’ve studied this room more then I’d like to admit & to me ..its probably one of the most perfect rooms ever created. His 1980s Ethereal Otherworldly NY apartment transported me to Ruins of Pompeii, Secret Italian Palazzos and places yet to be discovered. Thanks for the years of inspiration 🪩

I’m completely aware of my Italo-Franco Vampire Decorating Maximalist tendencies in my own home but alas all good things must come to an end🪩 My Living & Dining Room will be getting a glow up over the next month. My beloved 70s grasscloth wallpaper has to soon come down for the practical purpose of fixing a plaster wall & then painted a light warm neutral color…thats another post as to why. Ive never had a neutral home ever…while everyone’s finally embracing color, I’m doing the polar opposite with an experiment of trying to embrace neutral walls with my own twist w/ adding color…Kind of like a Painting. How does a Color Loving Stylist/Color Consultant do a Light & Bright Neutral Room thats not snoring boring? Its about to get weird here…at least for me anyways. Stay Tuned🪩

Two things about me… Im not afraid of color & Im not afraid of dead peoples things🤓. Everything you see here in my living room is on its second life now in my home. All 2nd hand pieces that previously lived in someone else home…luxuriously laying about in what was usually some wealthy scion mansion that I can only dream about living in.
They all made it here & now fit in a sort of Tetris kind of way in my 1200 sq ft condo.
Happy Friday Everyone 🪩🪩

We are like the dreamer who dreams, and then lives inside the dream - But who is the dreamer? Godspeed David Lynch. Thanks for taking us along in your beautiful dreams & transporting us into your dark gorgeous mysterious world🪩 You’ve been a life long inspiration for me since I saw Blue Velvet at the theater at the ripe old age of 15 in 1986. We dream alike in endless curtains, color palettes, surrealism & soundscapes. I would’ve given anything to have a cup of coffee with you, my most favorite human. Farewell Maestro. I’ll miss you greatly.

Thanks for coming over 🪩
Check out my tour of our 1200 sq ft condo in historic Oak Park on their you tube channel.
Im a private person so this was a bit out of my wheelhouse house but the tour taught me a lot about myself.
I I love to tell stories, talk w/ my hands like an old Italian man, felt an odd gratification of representing the common man by exposing my everyday undone normal kitchen to the highly stylized Instagram kitchen world …I’m a rebel dottie..& I need to finally paint my bedroom ceiling! All in all Im grateful for the experience & thank you all for your kind comments. Each and everyone meant a lot to me🌞

This pics a view from my tiny kitchen looking into my pale pink cherry colored dining room w/ the chandelier that hung in the house I grew up in. My mom had fabulous taste in 1970s lighting. Huzzah!

Your Homes Your Sanctuary. 🪩It’s good to be back home under the trees after a difficult & long week of being away. Time to clear the cobwebs & get cracking on some home projects I’ve put off for way too long. I never tire of this view of some of my favorite things that make me smile every day. A Vintage Smokey Blue Oil Glaze Palm Pot, Flowy Unperfect Rusty Red Linen Curtains, the cool balance of the 70s Chrome w/ the Insanely Large Floor mirror reflecting the Fornasetti Screen and the light bouncing off the antique crystal chandelier. Happy Sunday Everyone🌞. interiors

I present to you my New Mood Im calling Edited Maximalism🪩When we moved in 3 yrs ago, our small place was flooded w/ flipper grey paint everywhere which I changed fast but had a problem w/ all our art hoard. Anyone who lives in a small space knows the reality of not having enough wall space. We have a ton of art thats been hiding for too long & w/ the excitement of having a new space I wanted to finally see it all. Voila! I have a staircase now & any apartment dweller knows how rare that is🪩 So I crammed it all in this staircase…artfully of course & although I enjoyed my own personal staircase art gallery for a couple yrs, I had to admit to my maximalist loving heart I felt claustrophobic. How can a Maximalist feel claustrophobic w/ all their hoard? It happens & thats another post of the psychology of collecting, color & your environment. So w/ all the big color energy & maximalism downstairs I decided I wanted a portal to calm inspired by a few things that make me smile & have memories tied to them🪩 Its dark in here so I painted it the airiest creamy parchment yellow, which is another first for me. It maybe be stark to some but evolution is the key here for me…knowing when to admit when your environments the problem & changing old mindsets. It turns out the claustrophobic staircase is now my favorite place in the house. 🪩Paint: Tallow

My Dining Rooms Evolved from Blue Green to Yellow & now Pale Pink. One thing that will never change are my books. I’ll always have a library in my dining room. What started out of necessity of Small Space Apartment living & a large book hoard turned into something comforting to me. Sit, Read, Eat, Repeat. Im in another small place but cant imagine a dining room without books now. 🪩Paint: Puppy Paws - Benjamin Moore

A Perfectly Imperfect view of my bed. Where’s a Nonna when you need one to remind you of the lost art of ironing sheets. How many of you grew up w/ grandmas & aunts ironing sheets & their underwear? Italians are obsessive ironers however I think their fervor made made my generation hate it. Which isn’t lost on me now. Happy Sunday…stay in bed & drop the iron. .

Its been a minute or months🪩 Thought I’d hop back on over here. View of my dining room from 2022. Things have changed a bit in here including the paint color. It was beautiful in pics but the blue green in real life was was oddly cold & depressing in a dark, small, tree top, north facing room otherwise known as a lot of adjectives for a challenging room. I changed it to a warmer lighter color to open it up & give it a mood shift but I still love this view most. Ive been here a 2.5 yrs now & this place has been the most challenging one yet but I learned more from living in this tiny condo than any other place I lived. Onward.
