Just a shop dog doing shop dog things.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Benji and I are finishing up another order of “The Coco” and it’s looking amazing! Benji being the QC manager has been doing a tremendous job on keeping my standards at an all time high. And with the holidays in full swing Benji suggested we knock off 10% on “The Coco” until the end of the year! Not only is he the goodest boy, he’s also a very savvy business dog.

Couple of quick cutting board orders in the books. These boards are a little different this time. All the wood was sourced from locally felled walnut and cherry. The only piece from the store were the maple strips I had laying around the shop. I wanted to go fully local but thought they added a nice touch lol.

I’m also trying some new things with my posts these days. Doing voice overs not only take twice as long to edit but also provides twice the amount of anxiety. Thankfully I can play some soothing background music to drown me out.

Well, would you look at that? We got another one in the books. And I have to say this one turned out great! What we have is a kitchen bench with storage for who apparently has been standing in his kitchen for years. I couldn't have him continue to live his life like this so we came up with a perfect solution for his needs. Now can live his life in comfort all and that's all we can ask for.

The bench is made from 3/4" Baltic Birch ply, the custom 3D wainscot is 1/2" poplar, and the bench top is 4/4" poplar that has been stained with golden pecan and buffed out with . All of the wood was supplied from the great ppl

A big shout out to for helping with delivery and basically unloading everything by himself. The man is basically a human Silverado.

A quick note about this furniture supply chain issue. With the majority of us spending more time at home means for some home improvements. There's really no reason to wait 6-8 months for a dining table, desk etc. Shoot me a DM and we can figure out a custom solution that won't take 8 months to get in your home.

Another one in the books! A custom built-in L desk with a walnut desktop, floating shelves, adjustable bookcase, cabinet/drawers and a cable management system. Like many due to the pandemic, my client was looking to fully transition to remote work. She had put together a makeshift desk out of haste but that was not an obvious long term solution. So we came up with a custom solution to help streamline her workflow and provide additional space for her crafting needs.

This was a challenging build and install but I think it turned out great! The dark natural tones of the walnut provide great depth along with all of the workspace and storage options. Form and function at its finest!

How many of you enjoy your coffee sitting down? I exclusively drink my coffee while sitting. Yeah, I think drinking coffee while sitting is everyone’s preferred method. This is probably what the fine people .lakeview were thinking when they gave me a call. I mean I don’t blame them at all. It’s a genius idea. To provide a solution for their epiphany we came up with a seating and table system that would satiate the most die hard seated coffee drinkers.

So my friends we finally have an end product and I think it turned out amazing. We have two slatted cherry benches: one that spans an impressive 150” long, a magical floating L-bench (with the corner dubbed the “아줌마 corner”), and five re-purposed pine tables. Materials used for the build were 4/4 cherry stock supplied from the awesome folks at and . The goal of the design was to create an ambient yet comfortable coffee drinking experience while elevating Coffee Lab’s brand and experience. I think we hit it all out of the park and then some!

I want to thank and for allowing me to run free with the design trusting my process. It was an absolute pleasure working with you and I’m really happy that you love the final product. A huge shout out to / for helping me deliver and taking some bomb photos of another large and obscure commission.

Go grab a cup or 10 of your favorite coffee beverage (I hear their cold brew is the best) and take a seat. Truly take in how incredible it feels to drink your amazing Coffee Lab coffee while sitting on a custom DCHOI DESIGNS piece.

Boom bap kapow! Look where we at now!

New shop alert! From 50 sqft to 500+ sqft and it feels good (there's so much room for activities). It's been a wild couple of weeks planning the new shop layout, moving equipment/acquiring new equipment, making shop furniture, and sifting through my hoarders pile of scrap. There's still a ton of work to do but the new shop is coming in hot.

I'm fortunate to be in the situation to upgrade and now I gotta keep the ball rolling. A huge thank you to everyone who's helped me get to this point in my journey. Without your support and push I would probably be back in an office building dreading every single day.
