It’s been a minute since I’ve posted a new piece! Just life happening, but I’m excited to show you this stunner. This vintage piece was in amazing shape, but had an old damaged finish. I wanted to change up the tone of the wood (before color seen in last photo). I love the new depth of color, I went darker than I usually do with walnut pieces. This sideboard is so much larger than others I’ve worked on in the past and would really command a room. It’s ready for its next life! Sold!

This gal sold yesterday in stories but I thought we ought to give it a spot on the feed! Here I thought a hutch would not be that exciting, but you all loved it! Of course being a mid-century modern piece helps. I took the glass doors off for the majority of these photos but they do exist!

Last pic is the original fbmp listing photo. I had to go the extra mile with cleaning, in fact it needed an initial wipe down in a nearby parking lot before we could even drive home with it 😬. I refinished the majority of this piece, but left the top shelves alone as they were in great shape. My favorite part of this restoration is the walnut veneer I put down instead of the laminate top and I’m obsessed with how much of a difference it makes. (This is the area you see the glassware, top of the bottom half)

I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for more like this one!

This mid-century dresser by Kroehler has its groove back! The very rough original finish was dated and not on my list of things to salvage. 😬 But you also know I love a wood and paint combo! I’ve been eager to do a wood slat accent on a piece and these top drawers were the perfect candidates. Now it’s looking nothing like the original but with all the quality that comes with the Kroehler name.

Apologies for my lack of good “before” pictures!

Vintage Mid-Century Modern six drawer dresser by Century furniture! Finally took this beauty out of storage. It was in good condition overall but still needed a full refinish to remove scratches, complete repairs and get a more even color. It’s a two toned piece featuring both oak and walnut. The trim acts as the handles for the drawers! Update: SOLD

Reminded myself I have the freedom to paint antiques and boy does it look classy! Late 1800s to Early 1900s. This large rustic chest of drawers is made of solid cherry wood. It has been repaired, primed, and painted in a deep dark navy with a refinished wood top and legs. Huge amount of storage in this one with the bottom drawer being the largest drawer I’ve ever worked on haha. Many of you know I love to restore antiques! But a large bit of damage made a restoration highly unlikely for this old gal. ❤️ SOLD

I have a soft spot for furniture pieces from the 1800s, I love giving them new life and restoring them as best I can to their original glory. While most of the pieces I work on are older than me, 130+ years is a different kind of impressive. This extra tall gal is available in Chicagoland! Message me for details! It’s a rare late 1800s boarding house or “Wellington dresser” which features a side panel intended to lock all the drawers for safe keeping. It’s a Victorian dresser in the Eastlake style made of solid walnut. While it is quite old, it’s fully functional. I’ve done some restoring and some refreshing to this piece to give it new life. The top has been fully refinished due to a lifetime of wear. The drawers have been repaired, the interiors sanded and sealed to provide a fresh slate. It would have once held a mirror or other adornment on top hence the three holes that remain. I choose not to fill these in as no filler would compare to 100+ year old solid walnut. 39 wide x 55.5 tall x 20 deep. SOLD

Quite the transformation on this thrift store find, swipe for before! I loved this refinish so much, bringing early 1900s pine BACK! I stripped the paint off this piece and did some sanding. I wanted to give this piece a more natural aged pine look so I added back some color using a tan wash and some dark wax. Now free of paint I hope this piece can continue to age and patina.

SOLD! This one was snapped up quick but still deserved some photos on the feed

Some still images of this reimagined Drexel! This sturdy vintage dresser from their Artistry collection is very hard to come by and I actually salvaged it years ago and then proceeded to ignore it… I’m so glad I finally pulled it out of hiding.

Painted in an *almost* black charcoal as well as stained walnut drawer fronts. The petal details are original to the piece and have been stained or painted to contrast the drawers they accompany.

In the second to last pic you can see just how much veneer wasn’t able to be salvaged on that mistreated door front. As someone who loves a Midcentury restoration when it comes to painting them I try to find the right ratio/combo of paint to stain. Each piece begs for something different, with different areas of damage and different wood that can be saved.

This little cutie came my way from a fellow refinisher already partially sanded! Love that for me! I rarely see these dressers with just a couple drawers and tall legs. They make great little sideboards or console tables with storage. You get the character of an antique but also a lot of function. It’s a solid oak antique piece with carved leg detail and tiger oak drawer fronts. The piece would have originally had an attached mirror so I cut off that overhang and added a piece of oak trim to match. Sold!

Restoration for this mid-century modern beauty! Last three pictures are some of the “before.” Solid wood construction with walnut veneer. Fully stripped, repaired, sanded, stained, toned, and sealed 🙌 I absolutely love bringing walnut back to life. This piece sold before it hit the feed!

Tell me… if this was in your home what are you storing in it?!

This absolute showstopper has been sitting in my workspace waiting for my attention. It’s a genuine midcentury Ga***rd Bros card catalog in maple. I’ve decided to keep the original look of this piece, even in “vintage condition” it’s going to hold more value if I don’t overall it! So I only worked on the areas that desperately needed attention, like the top, which had far too many leaking planters on it at some point in time (see last photo). While I couldn’t completely erase that water damage it looks FAR better.

Did I mention it’s hard to let this one go 😂
