🏀 March Madness Champion – AWD Edition 🏆

Congratulations to Mike H. for taking down the American Wood Design March Madness Bracket Challenge — correctly picking Michigan to win it all.

For context:
- Mike has 16 years of service with AWD (anniversary coming up 4/16 👏)
- He’s one of our lead custom fabricators
- And most impressively… he didn’t watch a single game

That’s right — no research, no analysis, no late-night games… just pure instinct (or luck we’ll never hear the end of).

But if you’ve seen his work, it starts to make more sense.

Along with this post, we’re sharing photos of one of Mike’s latest projects — a custom nurse’s station featuring curved panels and bent solid surface work. It’s detailed, technical fabrication that not many people can execute at a high level.

That’s where Mike separates himself. High skill, high consistency, and the kind of craftsmanship that shows up in the final product.

Congrats again, Mike — both on the bracket win and 16 years of strong work at AWD.

I wanted to share some good news. On March 19, 2026, American Wood Design made a material donation to The Challenge Program, a nonprofit based in Wilmington, Delaware that helps young adults overcome barriers to employment.
 
We donated a stack of Plain Slice Teak panels and Melamine sheets. Rather than scrap it, we found a way to put it to good use for a worthy cause.
 
The Challenge Program trains Delaware youth in woodworking and furniture making as part of their workforce development mission, so these materials will go directly toward supporting their work. It is a great fit.
 
This is a reflection of who we are as a company and the kind of impact we can have in our community. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this happen, from identifying the material to getting it out the door.
