Our Story

Originally a high end furniture store when Ashley River Road was only two lanes, Joe Barber opened a “buy all, sell all” shop in the 1950’s of which the Trader Joe name came. As owners and generations changed, the name stayed as the store began to focus on furniture, and a customer asked if we could use her chest of drawers which was the beginning of our used furniture sales. Over the years, we have morphed to a furniture store for “...all walks of life,” both with the help of our staff who have ranged from Citadel graduates to veterans and through the ever changing economy and growth of Charleston.

Today, we have a wide selection of factory direct upholstery, bedroom suites, dining sets, and over 20 lines of mattresses in our store with thousands of pieces available through special order. We not only sell new and used furniture and new bedding, but also buy, trade, and consign furniture from our customers. In addition we offer night time delivery, lay-a-way, and financing through Progressive.
