Reasons to buy second hand rather than new-
It's eco-friendly, and keeps stuff out of landfills that might otherwise be thrown away.
It helps preserve pieces of history.
It's supports small businesses, and your local community. Your dollars in small, local businesses directly support families. Does the big box store really need more of your money?
You'll find unique & unusual items that really stand out.
The quality is frequently much better than new. If an item has already survived long enough to end up in the used market, it's a pretty safe bet that it was well made.
Items are usually much cheaper, and who doesn't want to stretch their money these days?!
I'm a little biased on this one, but typically the people that run second hand stores are very friendly and incredibly knowledgable about a wide variety of things.
