Today I got to participate in a fun event at AdventHealth Celebration doing a Superhero Celebration. As always, we enjoy doing these fun events for the kids. Since Spiderman was the only one available today, he dragged a few real world heroes along down the rope. Looking forward to Santa coming next month too.

Good evening sourdough friends! 🥖 We will be selling sourdough tomorrow, Thursday, October 3rd from 4-6pm at the corner of Champlain and St. Clair.

I will have traditional sourdough artisan bread, and will additionally have jalapeño cheddar, spiced apple cider, and sourdough cinnamon rolls available for sale!🍂🍁

Sourdough bread uses a sourdough live culture which harvests live wild yeast and slowly ferments grains making bread more nutritional and the ingredients more readily absorbed and digestible. The whole process takes about three days from start to finish, and only uses 4 ingredients; sourdough starter/culture, water, flour and salt! That's it!

Additional ingredients are included for specialty flavors and baked goods. If you have any food allergies or questions, feel free to reach out personally.❤️

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow evening!

Happy New Year!! Looking back at last year, we had some pretty cool projects. Here's my top five from 2023!

5. Bathroom upgrade: From builder basic to fancy rustic!
4. Axe Stand: Display piece that went to Ron DeSantis in the Governor's office.
3. Portable steps: A bigger set of steps for Shyne Event Services to help make their events special.
2. Trivets and Trees: More trivets and the Tree of Life (probably my current favorite scroll saw project).
1. Bunk Bed: Who didn't want a bunk bed growing up? And this one is pretty awesome!

Hope everyone has a great beginning to the year and that the year is the best one yet!

The boys' bunk bed is basically finished! After basically two years of planning and putting it off, I think this thing came out looking fantastic. The kids seem to love it too.

The stain is a blend of equal parts Minwax Driftwood and Varathane Golden Oak and Weathered Oak. Yes... We committed a sin and mixed two different brands of stains! 😂 The frame is made from Southern Yellow Pine and the headboard/footboard/rails are from pallet wood that we cleaned up.

The ladder was a last minute addition, but of course you have to have it. And the wedges on the tusked tenons still have to be added. They basically became cosmetic because I didn't allow enough material length on the ends to give you any hold. Another product of last minute additions. 🤪 Instead we pinned them in place with some screws and hid those under the neat little button caps.

Those Nectar Sleep mattresses have a fitting home now and the kids have a great place to sleep and play!

Finished up another Etsy order. Completed two Tree of Life pieces and a purple heart snowflake trivet. I had a little snafu with one of the Trees (the backer tape wouldn't come off), so that gave me the motivation to make a backer for the piece. That's now an option that can be selected over in the shop to complete the piece, if you so choose.

Just for a point of reference, the Tree of Life takes me about three hours of uninterrupted cut time to get it done, assuming I'm rocking and rolling on it. 🤯 That's a lot of cutting! But soooo worth the work. They look amazing!

Finally finished up these scroll saw projects. The Tree of Life is probably my favorite to cut. Even though it has so many inside cuts, it's the good kind of challenging.

The Tree of Life is stained in Gunstock from Minwax and finished with a semi-gloss polyurethane. The snowman trivet and the bell/tree trivets are just coated in mineral oil to preserve the natural beauty of the red oak.

If you like these projects, you can find them and others our Etsy site.

While I'm waiting for my barn door lumber to acclimate, I prepped some boards for some scroll saw projects. The Tree of Life has become pretty popular, so I need to make a few more of those. Also, I'm stealing an idea from Instagram and using some Super Mario jack o' lantern patterns to make a project for the kids. The great thing about homeschool is that you can add a lot of extra skills into the education. Planning to try out a stack cut on the Tree of Life and hopefully double my productivity, although I don't know how we) it'll go with all the detail work.

Milled my lumber down to half an inch thickness, cut each to the size of the pattern going on them, filled any knots or voids with Starbond Adhesives, then sanded smooth with Serious Grit. Trying out this The Gorilla Glue Company spray adhesive for the first time. Seems to work well so far.

It's been a crazy few months between family and work but I'm happy to get back to work on a shop project! Working on a breakfast nook built-in bench for The Labod Team. It's been a while since I've used SketchUp but the rust broke off pretty quickly. Looking forward to getting out and making some sawdust soon...
