This was a fun project that brought us back to our Lincoln Log skills! Using one of our 20-foot Antique Pine beams, we transformed it into a beautiful and functional bench. It’s now installed and ready for guests at a new sushi restaurant in downtown Austin.

Our friend and longtime client, , recently visited our showroom to select a bookmatched set of 12-foot pecan slabs for his biggest table build yet—at 40+ inch wide, 22-foot-long by placing matching slabs end to end.

While he was here, we walked through different areas of the sawmill and discussed what sets our sawing, drying, flattening, and planing processes apart—and why top-quality furniture makers, like Andy, prefer to work with our material. We even had the chance to check out a few pieces of our large vintage wood-processing machinery.

First cut down…thousands more board feet coming.

It’s a beautiful morning to start sawing pecan logs.

Some logs just stand out from the moment we open them up, and this Pecan log is definitely one of those. As soon as we saw the slabs flattened and planed after kiln drying, it became an immediate staff favorite.

Two slabs from this flitch left the sawmill this week. One became a stunning entry table, with a live edge that fits the space perfectly. The other left unfinished and will become a bench in a customer’s new home.

Now, just one slab remains. We can’t wait to see what it becomes.

This beautiful Walnut log is on its way to becoming a one-of-a-kind bench. We sawed the log flat, kiln dried it, and now it’s ready for the next stage. We can’t wait to see how it comes together in the final installation.

A whole set of Pecan slabs wrapped up and ready to go!

We love when homeowners can visit our showroom and hand-select the slabs for their renovation or new build. Seeing the wood in person and choosing the right pieces helps set the entire project up for success.

These are all bundled up, and the builder is on the way to pick them up. We do our best to make the process easy from selection to pickup.

You can always browse detailed photos and dimensions of our available slabs on our website, but there’s something special about seeing these beauties up close and choosing them in person.

With striking grain, rich character, and plenty of size to work with, these slabs are ideal for countertops, tables, or other statement pieces. There are some great bookmatched sets ready for you to choose from if you need a wider top.
