Friday’s are my flex days: sometimes I work, sometimes I don’t. I won’t be answering emails unless I feel like it, won’t be making appointments, and if I’m in my shop I haven’t brushed my hair or put on makeup and will only be wearing cozy clothes and slippers. 🫶🏼
Finally, after 15+ years of doing this, I feel like I am finding balance. I take days off, take vacations, and trust others to handle things while I am away. I am continually challenged to establish and define boundaries with people (especially you highfalutin designers out there 😘) and the hustle of being in service to Aspen is no joke. We work on homes that are worth 100s of millions of dollars and that is A LOT of pressure. We get those jobs because we’re good, and we’re good because we balance practice with self care. We’re good because we do what is fair and right: what is human. We answer the phone, we listen, we do our best, ALWAYS.
So, thanks to those who respect our boundaries and frankly ✌🏼 to those who don’t. We are real people, living real lives, raising children, tending to gardens, nurturing friendships, and all the rest. Please don’t forget that, no matter who you’re talking to on the phone or email.
Sometimes it feels like with the development of technology and especially AI we are moving further and further away from a sense of real genuine slow and intentional human creation and connection. I am not anti AI altogether AND I feel it’s REALLY important we remember that we are still humans having human experience, even with robot noise in the background.
My awesome sweatshirt is from one of my favorite brands, Accomplice. The sweatshirt is designed to look like jumbled letters when you look at it directly, but in the mirror it spells LOVE.
May we all reflect LOVE and KINDNESS to one another forever and ever amen. 🙏🏼
