Curly Claro Walnut platter 8” x 1.5”. I really like the way this one turned out even though I had initially wanted to take the walls thinner than 0.5”. It has two gradual dips toward the center after the 1.5” flat rim.

I had a crack starting to be exposed that I was worried would worsen with continued turning even after epoxy stabilization as I don’t have a vacuum pot to fully saturate the cracked area.

The auction will end Tuesday December 19th at 10pm CST. I will message the winner to arrange payment after that. If the winner does not pay within 24 hours, the backup bidder will be messaged and given the chance to purchase the bowl.

Last call for some Whynot Co items for a while!

I’m knee deep in two custom builds right now, an oak desk and a Murphy bed. After those wrap up I will have a short period where I will be able to complete some smaller orders and then I will be moving my equipment to their new home! As a result, I’ll be out of a commission for awhile until we get our house built.

Due to some interest, I figured I would offer a run of custom duck calls. This is a great chance to go ahead and get a Christmas present ordered!

Here are the options:
Echo Timber Double or Single Reed
Echo Open Water Double or Single Reed

All wooden or wood/epoxy call body (other woods you have seen me use in other posts are also available)

Aluminum or Brass Band at the end of the call body (or no band at all)

Call insert color (last pic)

These will range from $75-120 (most being about $75-$85) depending on options.

Well… the sawmill project is complete! After weeks and weeks of tireless work from the people in the first picture we finally have all the lumber for the shop and the house sawn!

I think it’s amazing that God provided us with such a beautiful renewable building material. Touching every log and every board makes us appreciate it even more. Even though It’s been a lot of work, but I can say it feels good to have it accomplished and I know our home will be even more special because of it.

We couldn’t have done any of this without the people in this picture. From giving us the trees to dragging up logs everyday after work, we are thankful from the bottom of our hearts!

In all the craziness of life recently, I have forgotten to post the most recent project I completed.

This dining table was a really special project to me. I made this table for my aunt and uncle. The table top wood is from an old pine tree that once stood in front of the church I grew up in and the grain was absolutely stunning. It always amazes me how God took the time to make internal beauty in so many objects. Generally the internal beauty is much greater than the exterior (what does that tell us about how we should be!)

There is something special about building a table…. Knowing that meals will be shared, memories will be made, homework will be done, and holidays will be had all around this table. It’s definitely a project you want to get extra right.

If anyone else wants something like this, let me know cause I really enjoyed this project and would love to make something special for your family!
