Here she is! Completely reconditioned, inside and out. This antique chest is ready for another 50 years or more!

I went for a bit of a modem look. This is like the "Fog" finish by pottery barn. After stripping and a few hours (6) of sanding, a tan wash over the birch veneer helped to calm the orange look. Then a coat of natural stain to accent the grain. Topped by 3 layers of polycrylic for protection. The handles are😍, but can be changed if not your style (I think antique bronze would look great too).

Well built with solid 3/8 inch hardwood and mortise and tenon joints, these large drawers can handle a heavy helping of clothes. After sanding each drawer, they got a deep conditioning to moisturize the wood.

Happy sunny Wednesday friends! My hobby has taken a back seat lately due to moving, building etc. But I'm a little bored this week so I started this project. Stay tuned- she's going to be a beauty!

Another beautiful rescue found a new home this week. This Empire style chest dates to late 1800-early 1900s handmade construction. Dovetails are hand carved and the interior boasts many marks from a hand planer.
Hard to believe the beautiful mahogany veneer that was under that black paint! A few coats of polycrylic and this beauty is good for another 50 years! More before and after pics in the comments.

Ready for a new home, this early 1900s antique china cabinet has a very interesting local history. The original shipping tags, still on the back, say that the cabinet was shipped from the Easton Furniture Co. in Easton Maryland to Clough Brothers Furniture Store in Peru, NY. Most freight at that time was sent by train. I've attached the history of the popular Peru store.

Cabinet measures 68 in tall, 41in wide and 15.5 deep. The cabinet has been sanded and painted a soft white. It has 2 adjustable shelves, locking, original glass door, and a good size drawer in great condition. Original brass hardware was restored.

The trim and carved legs are in great shape for it's age (note the tiny carved leaves near the drawer handles). She needed some veneer repair but otherwise in great shape. The wallpaper added to the back is removable so can be changed.
Hopefully someone has room for this beauty! Pick up in Saranac. $200

Sofa/console/entryway table.
Sturdy pine table is 42 in long, x 21 1/2 deep and 34 high. Top refinished in walnut and grey giving it "barnboard" finish. Bottom painted "Eucalyptus" (which is a blue-green) Small drawer opens for storage.

Vintage Maple Country style corner side table now available.
This pretty little table was built by the Imperial Furniture Company in Grand Rapids Michigan. According to the sticker on the bottom, it should be from the 1930-40s.
It's solid wood and is surprisingly sturdy. A few little blemishes to show its story but all surface scratches have been removed. Fully reconditioned and sealed with 3 coats of polycrylic for protection.
Staged with a French Country feel bit I can also picture this with a game of checkers on it in a family room.
32 inches across and 26.5 inches tall.

Antique Maple Burl highboy dresser now available.

This dresser is a stunner now!
Solid hardwood in great condition for it's age. Dovetail drawers work very well. Completely resurfaced then stained or painted then 3 coats of polycrylic added for protection.

The graining is 😍. The veneer pattern on the front of the drawers is made from walnut burl which is butterflied to make that mirror image. Amazing craftmanship!!

The hand carved trim is original and in great condition as are those unique ball feet!
Original brass hardware given a pretty face lift too.

This lovely piece was delivered to her new home today. I'm sure 2 little girls will be quite excited to meet her on Christmas morning filled with ALL the perfumes, make up and hair do-dads that Santa could find!
