EVERYTHING 50% OFF... final three days (this Thursday-Saturday) .
As you may have read or heard, Southern Dot Furniture (213 S. Main Street in Burkesville, KY) sustained some damage from flooding about a month ago. We've been closed in order to get things back to where they need to be (and we've made a lot of progress), but the flooding was more damaging than first thought. That meant we had to touch nearly every piece of inventory in the front 2,500 sqft of the store. That's the bad news. The good news is that the remaining 5,000+sqft of warehouse space didn't seem to have a drop of water anywhere near it. Here's what that means for our customers: You're going to see 50% off of every item in the front 2,500 sqft of the store from August 6-8.
It isn't something we've done before and don't expect it to be something we'll do again. Here's a transparent look at our thinking and decision making. The store is going to have to undergo some major repairs. That means we need to move over a thousand pieces of inventory out of that section for repairs to safely occur. If we box everything up then we have not only the labor cost of boxing and moving, but also the labor cost of unboxing and re-cleaning. That alone is problematic, but when you couple that with the likelihood of breaking things in the process, you start seeing it as a net negative instead of a net positive. So... if we're going to lose money as a result of the flood, our opinion was to lose it to potential customers and (hopefully) bring in new customers who may be attracted by the 50% off days. That keeps us from having to handle the items AND gives someone else a good deal that hopefully brings them back when we re-open with normal hours and a normal set up.
A couple important notes are: (1) there will be absolutely not holds on anything in the store because one of the main objectives of the 50% off is to get the showroom empty so repairs can occur quickly, (2) hours are 10 AM - 5 PM, (3) we were flooded so the environment looks different than it used to and we are asking that you give us some grace for that, (4) please be mindful of your surroundings and plan to be careful as you walk around in the store, and (5) first come, first served on all items and payment in full will be required at purchase. We thank you for your continued patience and support. It's going to be a busy three days. We hope to see you soon! (Part one of pictures are attached.)
