A good room tells you where to go.

People should be able to find the entrance, reception point, available seat, or next destination without stopping to study the space.

Furniture placement helps create that direction. Clear paths reduce backtracking. Open sightlines make choices easier. Seating should define a place without blocking the route to it.

Where do people hesitate in your space?

The shape of a lounge setting affects how people use it.

A straight arrangement can define an edge or support side-by-side seating. A curved arrangement turns people toward one another and creates a clearer gathering point.

HON’s SoCo collection includes square and curved modular components for shared workplace settings. The line now offers 20 more upholstery choices from HBF Textiles, giving designers a wider range of color, pattern, and texture options.

We’d consider SoCo when a shared space needs visual structure without adding permanent walls.

Specified for a reason.

Ask bluespace interiors about SoCo configurations and finish options for your project.

A medical facility has to support more than patient care.

Staff need places for focused work, training, telehealth, documentation, breaks, and daily coordination. Patients and visitors need clear, comfortable settings throughout the building.

For this Irvine medical facility, bluespace interiors developed furniture solutions across clinical, administrative, waiting, communal, training, staff-support, and outdoor spaces.

Mockups and product reviews helped the team test furniture and finishes against the project’s performance, sustainability, and brand goals. bluespace interiors also managed procurement and installation through a strict construction schedule.

The completed facility sets a furniture direction for the next phases of the three-building campus.

The furniture order is only part of the project.

Your installer must manage delivery, staging, building access, placement, safety, and the final walkthrough. An unclear scope or weak communication plan can cause problems long before the first desk reaches the floor.

Ask about similar projects. Confirm what the installation scope includes. Find out who provides updates and how the team handles changes, delays, quality checks, and post-installation support.

We gathered eight questions to help facilities and procurement teams choose an installation partner with fewer surprises.

Your team changed. Has the space caught up?

Headcount shifts. Meetings become more fluid. Focus work needs more protection. Rooms that once made sense can start working against the people using them.

Watch for the signs. Empty conference rooms. Crowded touchdown areas. Furniture moved into unofficial setups. Employees searching for a quiet place to work.

Those behaviors are feedback from the space.

What part of your workplace needs an update?

This library had one room and four jobs.

Moore Middle School used it as a media center, classroom, project gallery, and book-fair venue. Fixed shelving made every transition harder.

The planning process began with the librarian’s weekly routine. Eight floor-to-ceiling bookcases occupied valuable space while holding less than 30% of the collection. Removing and relocating them freed 35% of the floor.

Mobile book displays, flip-top tables, storage ottomans, and soft seating now help the room change between uses within minutes.

The same square footage can support more of the school day because the furniture can move with it.

Furniture procurement starts with questions about people, space, and priorities.

How does the team work now? Where does the current layout create friction? Which areas carry the most demand? What changes should the furniture be ready to support?

Answering those questions early gives the project team a clearer basis for evaluating products, budgets, and timelines.

Our latest article covers what to address before furniture selection begins, from workplace goals and employee needs to technology, delivery, and installation.
