At first I wasn't sure about this platform as I was trying to help a friend in Bangladesh. They said Xoom works with PayPal so I tried it.
The fee were quite decent ranging from $3.99-$6.99 US depending on how you were sending it (PayPal balance, debit card, bank account)!
The platform does the conversion so you don't have to worry about the variances that occur in various parts of the world.
I got an alert to my phone via text that I had to upload documents for security reasons and to prevent fraud. I did have to upload my ID.
That was a pain because it was 1 AM and I was using my computer. I had to take out my ID and use my phone to capture it front & back.
Good thing is that I was directed to PayPal to see what documents they needed provide proof of my ID.
My phone is picky & the Xoom platform via PayPal would not accept my photo in the format it was in. I had to screenshot my ID and then it accepted it.
I am hoping I don't ever have to use it again but if I do hopefully I don't have to upload my photo every time.
Xoom does keep a list of the people that you have sent money to so it makes it easy if you are sending money overseas often.
Lastly, I had taken a screenshot of the confirmation and it said it would take up to 24 hours and as I sent it he had already started to text me that he received the money!
Don't be afraid of sending your loved ones overseas money thru Xoom!
