Finally! Hay is all nice and cozy in it's new home. Now, I do get it, the barn still looks like crap, but at least it will keep the hay dry while I look for some siding materials that are affordable to dress up my "mostly" recycled wood barn project. The prices right now! Wow.

Hay barn on pause until siding is found. Here's a fun experiment I did a bit over 2 years ago with some pallets. I needed a front porch of sorts for the workshop. Started with an old pallet that wasn't much good for recycling, used some pallet planks that I sanded down to create a solid "step" into the workshop. 2 years later it could use a good sanding and coat of polyurethane, but in general, it's held up nicely. And yes, I know the workshop needs a coat of paint. 🎨🖌 LOL

It's standing!!! Frankly, I can't believe it, it's standing on it's own, sturdy enough for me to relax, and not be praying for no windy days. 🌧 A crane, a long trailer, lots of recycled lumber, some good friends, and 2 long weekends of laboring, and here's the result. I couldn't be happier! (next is siding, but I don't have a source of recycled siding, and the prices I saw at Home Depot almost made me faint).

The saga continues! Today saw the wall sections completed, and erected into some semblance of a barn. Thanks to the help from 2 neighbors, the barn wall raising went without incident.

Then I went to the neighbor donating the roof (thanks Doyle Design Studio Colorado!!!) to cut the 32' roof into 16 foot sections. As I cut the roof it was like tin roof surfing as the carport swayed back and forth! E-Ticket ride!

Follow along as I try to not mess up this project! No guarantees. 😎 I'm attempting to replace a falling apart lean-to that doesn't hold nearly enough hay with one built from primarily recycled wood. The roof is donated by my neighbor. The walls are built from salvaged wood from the old lean-to and cleaning up of my woodpile. The only thing purchased so far was 8 4x4x8 for solid wall supports, and 2 4x4x16 to support the roof when the crane picks it up.

Place bets now as to if i get the walls built to the right dimensions for the roof. Check out the professional quality drawing!
