From Rebecca:
Friends I am wondering if you all could help us with some words of encouragement and support for Jacob our 12 year old son. It’s easy as 12 year olds see it, for parents to be encouraging, supportive, loving etc etc. “we have to be that way”. Jacob is truly struggling with his predicament. Would anyone like to send him a card or letter?
If you don’t know, January 17, 2018 Jacob all of the sudden felt his feet fall asleep. The next day they stayed numb while at the doctors office. From there we were sent to JCMC and were admitted for 5 days. Lots of tests (including a spinal tap) and Jake was released with no answers. We have seen several specialists and have appointments to see more. We will keep going until we find answers. Jacob is feeling super down. It is extremely difficult for him to walk at all, even with the assistance of his walker. Most days Scott and I have to carry him. From the waist down he is in extreme pain. No meds given have helped at all. He has started to change his dreams and goals. Canceling things and avoiding friends. For a 12 year Old that was super athletic, a very talented athlete, who had amazing sportsmanship, loved life, to a child who wants to sleep all day (I don’t blame him) and talks about never playing ball again, my heart is absolutely shattered for him.
If you would like to send him a card or note, I can PM you are address. It might do him good to see that others believe in him, and no matter what this is, he can overcome it.
