Miriam Switching Post

Miriam Switching Post After nearly 70 years, Miriam Switching Post has closed. We’re so grateful for your support and volunteers through the years.

Permanently closed.

You can honor the shop’s legacy by giving to the new Switching Post Scholarship & Innovation Fund at Miriam School. Miriam Switching Post is an upscale resale boutique selling gently used furniture, home décor, jewelry, art, antiques, and collectibles. The Switching Post raises needed funds to support Miriam’s mission of empowering unique learners. All proceeds from the Switching Post support Miri

am’s Variable Tuition Program, which provides financial assistance to our students and families. Because the Switching Post is staffed almost entirely by volunteers, there is very low overhead which allows more money to be attributed to our programs. All of Miriam’s programs are designed to empower unique learners by building confidence and a foundation for success.

We're honored to partner with Woodard Lipe Fine Art & Auction as we prepare to close the Miriam Switching Post on Nov. 1.

If you have fine original art (paintings, prints, sculptures), jewelry, silver, or unique collectibles to donate — there's still time to make a difference!

Woodard Lipe will auction these high-value items and send the proceeds to support Miriam School & Learning Center scholarships for students with learning differences. 💙

Please donate directly through Woodard Lipe: woodardlipe.com

Join us on November 1 from 2pm–4pm, as we celebrate 70 incredible years of generosity, connection, and community through the Miriam Switching Post. As we prepare to close our doors, we want to say thank you — to every shopper, donor, volunteer, and supporter who helped build something truly special.

Enjoy live music by After Saturday, light appetizers, and refreshments as we honor the legacy of the store and the lives it has touched. If inventory remains, there will be special sale opportunities during the event.

Let’s come together one last time to share memories, smiles, and our heartfelt appreciation.

Thank you for being part of our story.

For nearly 70 years, Miriam Switching Post has been a staple in St. Louis’ resale market, offering upscale furniture, home decor, collectibles, art, and jewelry. Driven by donations and volunteers, the shop’s profits provide financial assistance to families who attend Miriam School, a school for students with learning differences.

The Miriam Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to close the shop, due to rising costs and decreasing profits. The Switching Post will be on hiatus, as Miriam reimagines the shop and how to best integrate it with its mission of empowering unique learners.

The last day of operation at the current shop will be November 1, 2025, and the last day for donation collection will be October 4. Farewell sales will begin in mid-October. This ending will come with lots of celebration - both of the shop’s history and of our passionate volunteers throughout the years.
