Politics=Paychecks 🗳️ The primary election in Maine is TOMORROW! EST Joe Byrne joined staff and union members knocking on doors in York County yesterday, talking with voters, and building support for Troy Jackson.

📢Tonight at 4:00 PM, we're hosting a phone bank, and we need your help reminding union members to get out and vote for Troy Jackson.

📢Troy is currently TIED for first place, and if elected, he would be the only active union member serving as Governor anywhere in the country. Throughout his time in the State Senate, Troy has stood with working people, championed issues important to Carpenters, and consistently supported our Tax Fraud Days of Action and our efforts to end Construction Industry Tax Fraud.

A truly memorable moment this week for Local 276 member Joe Caito, who celebrated his 92nd birthday in remarkable fashion!

In 1973, Joe installed flooring at Rich Stadium, the original home of the Buffalo Bills. This week, on his birthday, he was back on the job for Heritage Contract Flooring, installing flooring at the Bills' new Highmark Stadium - more than 50 years later. As if that weren't impressive enough, Joe is also approaching an incredible milestone: nearly 70 years of membership in Carpenters Local 276 WNY.

As Brother Caito walked through the site, his fellow brothers and sisters stopped to recognize and applaud this full-circle moment. Few can say they've helped build both generations of a stadium!

We are proud to celebrate this milestone with you and grateful for your decades of dedication to our trade, our union, and our industry. Happy Birthday, Brother!

"How lucky am I?" SkillsUSA cover features Carpenters Local Union 279 - Hudson Valley first-year apprentice Jonathan Valdovinos! It also includes an interview highlighting his experience in the union and working for Kiewit Infrastructure on the $78 million Glen Island Bridge repair and replacement project in New Rochelle.

“I didn’t see a future. It was just a job,” Jonathan said about his previous job in landscaping. “I wanted a pension, annuity, and benefits, which I now have through the union. Once the opportunity to join the Brotherhood presented itself, I took it.”

Through open houses and training center tours, high school students have the opportunity to explore our apprenticeship program, meet instructors, and experience the hands-on training that makes up 90% of their education.

These visits help students discover rewarding career pathways while learning how they can earn a paycheck, develop valuable skills, and build a future in the union construction industry.

A special thank you to Matt and everyone from Union Springs Central School District who visited our Carpenters Local 277 Training Center recently. With a generation's worth of work happening in central New York, we look forward to welcoming many of the students into rewarding careers as union carpenters!
