We apologize for what was a bit of a hiatus. Some personal reasons outside of the shop have kept us from going at full capacity. Social media posts being one of the things we have been away from.
So…. In the continued efforts to be a transparent company that is dedicated to making a consistent and high quality product, we wanted to share this picture. We intentionally used basic lighting and a cellphone camera. As many of you who follow us, you know that we discuss fading quite a bit. The reason for this is that it’s certainly a natural phenomenon with cork mats. It’s not a function of the ink that is used or the type of printing. While those variables can certainly effect the finished product, we still can expect a bit of fading. Our own proprietary cork has really allowed us to push the boundaries on the limitations that the average piece of cork will have. You can read more about that on our website. One of those boundaries is the ability to produce not only a strikingly clear and sharp image, but to also make a predominately black or full color mat. Even with that being said, fading was still an issue. We developed a special finishing process that uses a special formula we developed. This formula gets applied to the mat in a unique process, after the image is applied. What this formula will do is bond with the ink that has been impregnated into the surface of the mat. In terms it not only contains special UV blockers but will actually lock the ink in place without changing our suede like surface of our proprietary cork. This means the s is face touching your record is unaffected by this color stay process. You can see in the picture that we performed this process to the mat on the top and did not do the same for the other mat. While without the top mat to compare it to, the average consumer would probably not notice, nor be particular about it. However, it’s extremely noticeable, in a relatively short amount of time, what a difference the color stay process has done.
We are always constantly trying to deliver the best product we can and since everything is done in house, we have the ability to really retain a consistent focus on doing so.
