Charleston Forge

Charleston Forge We are a family owned American maker of fine furniture using time honored skills with a "sense of hand" that no machine can match.

Making beautiful furniture in America is our passion. Not a day goes by that we don’t recognize how fortunate we are to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and come to work along side true artisans who take great pride in everything they do. Whether they are forging hot metal or hand planing a solid wood tabletop, you can see and feel a “sense of hand” in every piece they make. Ther

e are no high-speed production lines―each piece is made one at a time, by hand. Our furniture is beautiful, but it is designed to be used―not pampered. And speaking of “not pampered,” not only do we make residential furniture, we make furniture for restaurants, hotels, resorts, assisted living facilities, offices, conference rooms, kitchen cabinet suppliers, granite and marble fabrication houses (who need strong bases to support their heavy tops). We’ve made furniture for well-known retailers such as Crate & Barrel, Restoration Hardware, and Bloomingdales, just to name a few. We even made a custom bed for a famous boxer who had a body almost as big as his ego! Our customers love the fact that we offer customization along with a multitude of wood and metal finishes and a nice selection of designer leathers and fabrics. Our current products and newest designs are sold through a network of retail dealers and professional interior designers. We encourage you to click on “Where to Buy” to find a dealer near you. Please visit our website often, sign up to receive our newsletters, and follow us on here, Pinterest, and Twitter. We thank you for your interest in Charleston Forge.

From Blueprint to Beautiful | Phase 4: Surface Preparation to Finishing

Great craftsmanship is found in the details.

After fabrication, every frame is carefully hand-ground and blended until the welds become part of a seamless design. This painstaking process creates the smooth, clean lines that define every Charleston Forge piece.

Once every surface has been inspected, the frame moves to our finishing department, where it’s meticulously cleaned and powder coated. The powder is electrostatically applied and then cured at high temperatures, creating a beautiful, durable finish that’s made to withstand everyday life. Some of our premium finishes have hand-painted highlights.

What began as raw steel is now transformed into a refined work of art—ready for its final assembly.

Swipe through to see how sparks become smooth finishes, and handcrafted frames become timeless furniture.

From Blueprint to Beautiful | Phase 3: Welding & Fabrication

This is where the transformation becomes real.

The components prepared in the first two phases come together as our craftsmen begin welding and fabricating each piece by hand.

Every joint is carefully fitted. Every weld is placed with precision. Every measurement is checked before moving to the next step.

What began as raw steel and individual parts is now taking shape as the foundation of a handcrafted Charleston Forge table.

From sparks flying at the welding station to the finished frame awaiting the next department, this phase is where engineering meets craftsmanship.

Swipe through to see how individual pieces become one.

Next in the series: Phase 4 – Grinding & Surface Preparation, where every weld is refined and every surface is prepared for its signature finish.

From Blueprint to Beautiful | Phase 2: Forging & Bending

Not every curve begins that way.

After each component is cut to size, select pieces move into our forging department, where steel is heated until it glows. At precisely the right temperature, our craftsmen shape and bend each piece by hand using presses, dies, and decades of experience.

Every bend must match the engineering drawings perfectly. It’s a process that requires patience, precision, and the skilled hands of American craftsmen.

This is where straight steel begins to take on the distinctive curves that define Charleston Forge furniture.

Swipe through to watch the transformation—from raw steel to the graceful forms that become the foundation of a handcrafted piece.

From Blueprint to Beautiful | Phase 1: Preparing the Steel

Every piece of Charleston Forge furniture starts long before it’s welded, finished, or assembled.

It begins with a vision on paper.

📐 Reviewing the drawings to verify every dimension and detail.

📏 Selecting the correct steel from our extensive inventory, ensuring each profile matches the design exactly.

✂️ Cutting every component to length with precision, preparing each piece for the next stage of production.

These first steps may not be the most visible, but they’re among the most important. The quality of every finished piece begins with the accuracy of every cut.

Swipe through to see how this console table starts its journey—from engineering drawing to carefully prepared steel, ready for fabrication.

Next in the series: Phase 2 – Bending, forming, and fabrication.

Some designs earn their place in the collection year after year. Omega is one of ours.

For over 40 years, our smiths in Boone, North Carolina have hand-forged every twist, every hammered strap, every hand-scrolled ring on this base — no two exactly alike, because that’s what hand-forged actually means. The images here aren’t catalog shots. They’re real pieces, built to the specifications of designers and clients who wanted Omega their way: a console stretched long for a hallway, an oval dining table sized for a family, a compact desk with a shattered-ice glass top instead of clear.

That’s the part we’re proudest of. Omega isn’t one table — it’s a platform for whatever our customers can imagine, forged by hand, one piece at a time.

Custom sizes. Custom finishes. Custom glass. Always made in Boone.

Every piece we create is built with pride, precision, and craftsmanship right here in our factory. Behind every product is a team dedicated to quality, tradition, and supporting American jobs.

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we’re grateful for our employees, our customers, and the opportunity to continue making products right here in the USA.
