I haven't had the time to post much. I took an off site job in order to stay afloat. I wanted to make an official announcement, because some are still asking me to take on kitties.
The Feline Furever Farm is CLOSED for intake permanently.
The kitties that are here will live out their lives here. Several cats are long term fosters - and when their rightful owners are ready to take them back, they will leave. That is going to break my heart as some have been here for years. In fact, some have been with me longer than they have been with their owners...which is going to be very hard on the kitties...but hopefully they will adjust. If not, they can always come back here to live out their life if that's in the kitty's best interest. But those are the only exceptions that will be happening.
My life changed so drastically when the mill closed and I tried my best to find something viable that could cover the massive amount of money that it takes to run this place correctly. I couldn't find it. So I had to sell land, reduce debt, and rework my finances so I could at least scrape by hand to mouth until more things financially work themselves out.
It's a HUGE adjustment not being able to have Pixie by my side 24/7. My days off, she stays stuck to me like glue. It's also worrysome about how old these kitties are getting...and I'm not here. I am not sure what will happen when I have to go to work and a cat is getting sick on me. Before, I could re-arrange my schedule to accomodate. Now...not so much. For those reasons, I am and will always be looking for some opportunity that will allow me to work entirely from home, or make more money and work less hours away from home.
The good news is that once my last piece of land sells, I will be in a very good situation financially. My mortgage will drop significantly...which has been the hardest thing to keep up since the mill closed.
My sign sales have pretty much halted because I don't have the time to put into growing it. I am still trying to grow my pet sitting. I LOVE pet sitting. I also am also doing cat boarding. I LOVE boarding as well. However, with the Panleuk epidemic, until that calms down, unless a kitty had it's shots prior to the epidemic, I am not going to be boarding any kitties until at least October.
Right now, until the final piece of land sells, I'm still short a few hundred a month...so I'm praying for enough boarding or pet sitting opps to close the gap. The kitties here still require about $200 a week in food and vet care...so donations are always appeciated. I'm not going to solicit for food or money unless I'm absolutely desperate...which I hope I never get to that point again.
Sadly, I do think Dottie has cancer and she might be the next to pass away at nearly 13.5 years old. In just the last week, she has dropped a significant amount of weight. I really hope not...but Daisy and Tux, her siblings, and mom Dolly, all died of cancer... :'( I'm feeding her extra groceries in the event cats are pushing her out of her food...praying it's that. She's still very active, eating good and vocal...just super skinny.
This is a picture of Boca and Bug (Boca is the all black one, Bug (aka Love Bug) is the cow kitty. They were recent boarders for a week here at the farm. They had all their vaccinations prior to the PL epidemic that has hit vet offices and cat colonies...so I wasn't worried about them arriving with anything deadly.
