Just completed at Hopper’s Restorations for a local client is the 1962 solid cherry dresser by Davis Furniture Company. The piece came to us with most of the case glue joints coming apart due to non-climate controlled storage for a long period of time. We repaired all glue joints and did a complete refinish. This is the first piece of four in the suite that all have the same damage. Now back to its original glory, it’s on to the second piece of the set.

Completed at Hopper’s Restorations is this Circa 1900-1910 quarter sawn white oak dresser/bureau with beveled mirror. This piece came to us with a 1970’s era glazed (antiqued) white paint job and completely worn out drawer guides and drawers. We completed all the drawer and guide repairs, stripped the piece completely, removed all the applied carving in order to get all paint picked out of the carving pieces and get the back of the carving cleaned then re-applied. The piece was completely sanded out, stained, two coats of sealer (first coat shellac and the second coat with vinyl sealer) then finally finished out with two coats of conversion varnish. Beautiful transformation back to its original glory!

Just completed at Hopper’s Restorations are these two early side tables. One is a two-drawer, solid walnut that came to us painted white and the other is a very unique cherry & maple single drawer “contrast” table. Both tables are mid 1800’s with the cherry & maple table having a single board top. Both tables came out very well and back to their original beauty.

Completed at Hopper’s Restorations is this Depression Era, Art Deco cedar chest. The piece came to us and had been painted completely red sometime around the 1970’s. After stripping we found a beautifully decorated walnut chest worthy of its restoration. I can’t imagine ever painting a piece like this but it’s an unfortunate practice that is coming back “in style” again and we see it all the time. There’s just a lack of appreciation for the craftsmanship and beauty of these old pieces but fortunately, we’re here to bring them back to the beauty and enjoyment they deserve.

Just completed at Hopper’s Restorations and looking for its new home is this antique white oak dresser base with decorative beveled mirror repurposed to a functional bathroom vanity. We repurposed a 1930’s Depression Era glass ceiling light shade for the bowl and added a chrome Peerless high rise vessel filler from the Westchester line. The drawers have all been rebuilt to allow for plumbing and the piece has been completely refinished. Definitely going to be a one of a kind statement piece in someone’s bathroom in the near future. $525

Just completed at Hoppers Restorations for a local client is this Circa 1925 walnut China cabinet. It came to us in the old original varnish which had turned black to the point you could hardly make out the grain patterns. It has some minor damage that was all corrected (broken feet and a separated stretcher). Now finished, the grain patterns are both unique and beautiful and set to be delivered this week.
