Originating from a small town in the green mountains of Vermont, I began a fine woodworking apprenticeship under a local master furniture maker, while still in high school. Upon completing the required 8000 hour apprenticeship program, I became the first to achieve Vermont State certification. My 5 year journeyman ship followed, beginning in Vermont and extending to Naples, FL. Finally, in 2004, m

y dream of being a Master came true when I opened my first shop in Naples, FL. In 2010, I expanded that dream by relocating back to the forests, this time, in the Western North Carolina town of Black Mountain. The Pieces
Fine furniture should be crafted to endure use over multiple lifetimes… to be passed on to future generations. Acting on that belief, each piece I make goes through an extensive series of time honored processes to achieve the highest quality standards. From thoughtfully selecting the finest lumber, to applying hand rubbed oil finishes, every step is carefully executed to ensure the finished piece is spectacular! Furthermore, all of my pieces are constructed using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, which maximizes wood strength, while forming pieces pleasing to the eye. Upon completion, each piece is signed, dated, and presented for the enjoyment of you and your family.

I had no idea this write-up was happening, so it was a damn nice surprise to see my work featured again in the Arts & Crafts Homes magazine Annual Resource Guide.

Thank you to Mary Ellen Polson for the thoughtful piece, Patricia Poore for continuing to support and share the work of craftspeople. And to all the folks, past and present, at Arts & Crafts Homes, grateful for all you’ve done for me and my work over the years.

I’ve been building furniture for a long time, so I’m proud to see my signature pieces alongside my current work.

The rest of this year should be an interesting one, as we continue the process of building our shopdominium on the land and there may even be a few shows on the horizon before the new year.

I am getting ready to build my Signature Brace Arbor Morris Chair and trying to see who else is interested in one.

I make the in Quartersawn White Oak , Cherry, Sapele and sometimes Walnut. You can also customize them with a different tree , spindles or slats than the main chair or rocker frame.
