Since 1943, Ideal Furniture has served customers in Birmingham, Fairfield, Pleasant Grove, Homewood, Hoover, Trussville, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Irondale. was founded in 1943 by Nathan Zivitz who made the transition from pharmacist to merchant. With the help of friends in the furniture business he opened a very small store next to his pharmacy. He strived to be the best service oriented a
nd customer friendly store in town. After his son Melvin graduated from college he joined in the family business and with the core group of loyal customers the store expanded to its present 1/4 square block facility. In 1994 Melvin's son Kevin came to be part of the business. Ideal is still a small sized store with an older building, but the furniture is from moderate to middle priced and "High End" quality.
