The VITRA Semi-Annual Sale is happening Now through 3/21

Magic Snake 〰️〰️〰️

Alexander Girard designed the Magic Snake motif for his exhibit of folk art at the International Exposition 'HemisFair '68' in San Antonio, Texas. The snake appeared as a decorative element on the facade of the 'Magic of a People' pavilion and also in the accompanying exhibition catalogue. The Metal Wall Relief Magic Snake is crafted from robust metal and has a colourful powder-coated finish.

Charles and Ray Eames designed the elegant lounge chair La Chaise for a competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1948. It was inspired by the 'Floating Figure' sculpture by Gaston Lachaise. The lounge chair has long since established itself as an icon of organic design.

USM NYC X Ben Ganz's bespoke collection is outfitted with a wheeled base that extends from the center, adding an element of mobility to each design. The units consist of six unique configurations, each one inspired by New York’s urban design typology and available in three limited edition powder- coated steel colors, all in a matte-finish.

Equipped with up to 12 casters each, the pieces easily move through space. The perforated metal panels add a further touch of lightness. A variety of storage and seating objects are on offer making innovative use of the standard USM parts and components as well as one custom element; a seat cushion.

USM NYC by Ben Ganz takes its conceptual cues directly from USM’s history as a modular system of architectural construction.
