"Last October, I wanted to surprise my housemates by getting a TV I found on a local free-stuff Facebook group. I didn't have a car, so I walked 10 minutes to the meeting point, very confident... and realized the TV was far much bigger and heavier than what I had expected. For half an hour I tried to bring it home, moving very slowly, sweating and breaking my back. I finally tried to call one, then two student friends with a car but they were both in class. And then, miracle! A friend of mine just randomly passed by. She helped me bring the TV home ( ). I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who went through this very unpleasant situation. But I wish everyone to find that friend or neighbor who will come to rescue you at any time! That's why we decided to create Hestia."

"I have been living in Berkeley for almost a year now, and even if my apartment was furnished when I moved in, some items were missing. My roommate and I found a lovely second-hand coffee table that can be turned into a dining table for a very reasonable price on Facebook Marketplace.
But the seller was in Berkeley Hills, the table was heavy and we did not have any mean of transportation. We eventually find a friend with a car that helped us bring the table to our place. But what a stressful logistic when you don't have a car yourself !"

" When I arrived in Berkeley back in August, the house I rented with my housemates was empty: we gathered the pieces of furniture in a few months but my most memorable item was this couch, which I found for free on a fantastic neighborhood Facebook group. We had no car large enough so we rented a truck to bring it home but it was very expensive, a height for a free couch !
