This is the season for outside repair and yes, repair is a big part of my world. These yard lights, there are 3, have served me well and deserved some love. All the caps were in bad shape, one fixture deserved bench work to refinish and the one that lives under a massive red oak needed new parts. The design was inspired by a fixture that we saw in Rehobath Deleware many years ago. A full service woodshop.

Last Friday was moving day. My customer sent these two photos along with this comment. “A game changer”. I was not at the receiving end and seeing my work in someone’s home always is a bit surprising. I was responsible for a significant renovation to this kitchen many years ago for the previous owner. I am happy to be part of this home’s history.

This has been another colorful project. The project designer has chosen several beautiful floor tiles for my customer's consideration. I had the opportunity to work with several extremely talented long time friends for all that goes into a new bathroom. I am excited to see the finished stroke with tile and fixtures.

Maple with cherrywood pulls. I call this the “Swiss Army Knife” of kitchen work stations. Pull out cutting boards, sliding pot racks, shallow and deep drawers, spice racks, sheet pan storage, and cubbies sized for juice boxes and tall bottle 6 packs. The top is 33”x44”. Height 36”. Pure Tung Oil finish with modified mineral oil on the cutting boards.

I pulled up the metal pipe which holds this old bluebird nesting box. I wanted to relocate the box and also put a metal hole repair plate over the enlarged hole. Chipmunks had chewed the hole and nested in this box. The location was tight in and under a White Spruce tree. Well, the wood dowel that slides into the pipe was rotted enough such that it broke. I was able to drill out the dowel remaining in the pipe and also just happened to have a 1” dowel that I drove into the pipe and refastened the box. This time I sealed the joint, hoping to keep moisture from getting into the pipe and causing rot.
So, if you haven’t cleaned out your nesting boxes, I suggest you do.

Starting to trick out the kitchen work station. Pull out “bread boards” on each long side and spice racks also. I texted my customer a question regarding my choice of a 2” diameter for spice jars. That seems to work for my spices. I have yet to receive a return text. Any input from my many followers?
