2020 has been, well, interesting to say the least. But that hasn’t stopped me from embarking on some incredible builds this year. Thank you to all of my clients for putting your trust in my capable hands. I’m excited to see what awaits in 2021. Happy new year everyone!

Picked up some beautiful purple heart today for an upcoming table project. I could have spent all day looking at the huge selection of woods here.

Quarantines can have their benefits. Aside from keeping us healthy, home projects can finally get done. Hurricane Irma was almost three years ago and she took our front gate from us. So no time like the present to make anew again! I started with a load of western red cedar on Friday and ended up with what you see here on Sunday.

It’s been busy here. Hard to keep up with all of the socials. Here is a project from a while back that I finally finished up last weekend. This is all client designed. He had a vision and I manifested it into physical form. Notice the incredible grain pattern from the dyed tiger maple panels.😮. More pieces still to come with this one.

Nearly five years ago I was contacted by a local family with a seemingly simple request. Build a family dining table and chairs from live oak trees harvested from their property. I’ve dreamt of a commission like this since I was literally a teenager so I enthusiastically accepted. I was able to be involved with every single step of this process from selecting the living trees, to overseeing the crane that lifted them off the property and into the truck. From driving said truck to the sawyer to cut the logs into slabs, to personally unloading the slabs to dry naturally behind my shop. To then processing the slabs into an aesthetically pleasing, functional piece of art that will be an integral part of a great family’s life for hopefully generations to come. I would also like to thank for providing the unbelievable finish on this piece and for helping me with some of these slabs. FYI the trestle pins are chef’s knives because the owner is an executive chef. A fellow artist himself. I am beyond honored to be chosen to be the one who crafted this and can say with all honesty that this is a benchmark for me personally

Yesterday afternoon Cameron and I left Largo en route to Atlanta. We arrived at about 10pm. Woke up, delivered this table and we arrived home at around 6pm today. Just a couple of road dogs doing the damn thing.

I was excited to share the delivery experience with him because without customers, I wouldn’t be able to build projects like this. And 99% of the time they are great people to work with. Today was no exception. Kathleen and Larry had recently returned from a whirlwind trip to France celebrating 50 years of marriage. They are an inspirational couple who have impeccable taste in furniture.😉. I can only hope that this table sees many more anniversaries for them and beyond.

This live oak continues to amaze me with every piece I process. This table will truly be something special.

Tonight I made the sapele drawer and tested some tung oil on the tiger maple. This table will be incredible.
