My mother was a painter/crafter and I obviously got the bug from her. She painted my antique bedroom set when I was 14yrs old. I have been painting and crafting ever since. Married life and raising children curbed my artistic flair until my children graduated and I decided it was time to fly. I came home one afternoon and told my husband that I needed $$$$ because I wanted to open a gift shop. He
responded with “Get a business plan together and take it to the bank”. I quit my job and 3 months later my doors opened and I enjoyed the next 6 years……until the grandkids came along. Retail hours just didn’t work for this MoMo. I sold the cottage house and clearance everything out. Happy as I was, something was missing. So I rented a booth space and started filling it up with treasures. I started painting again on wood or metal objects and even old window screens. Custom orders started filling up my days and the pieces kept getting bigger until I was painting big furniture pieces. I was totally surprised when I did a photo transfer of a personal photo of a Barrel Racer on a Chest of Drawers. It went viral in hours with over 8000 Likes and over 1600 Shares and has gone viral about 3 more times. I even got a call from a Western Furniture Store in Wyoming wanting to carry my line of furniture. They were personal photos, so couldn’t do it. I have shipped Custom Furniture pieces all over the United States. Even had a lady drive to Texas all the way from Florida to pick up her piece. Needless to say, the small booth space turned into a large space and then a huge space divided into retail and a paint studio where I was painting furniture and holding painting classes and selling a line of chalk based paint. Currently I am painting at home, still doing custom work around the days I have my grandsons. I have 2 booth spaces in different antique shops and still sell a line of paint. My family raises and sells show lambs, so that takes up a lot of my time. I also opened up one of those Canvas Painting Party Studios and have about 2 classes a week. Yes, I am told I am the Energizer Bunny and I need to slow down.
