This is borrowed from a Facebook post, but I wanted to share as ou staff are radiology technologists:
I hardly ever talk about work on Facebook but I took and edited this to fit my job. So here it goes........Nurses have very difficult jobs, no doubt about it and much respect. I don’t mean to take away from your jobs, however, please remember, X-RAY TECHNOLOGISTS DO TOO! I see a ton of tributes to nurses implying only a fellow nurse can understand the stress. So I feel the need to acknowledge ALL of the X-ray technologists out there because...
•We too, work long hours. (Sometimes 40 hrs in 3 days) Up to 7 days straight right along with ya• We start IVs and move patients all day long, often ALONE. We work right alongside for traumas and strokes and cardiac patients. • We have had patients take their last breath while on our table, after telling families that it will only be a few minutes • We FOUND the terminal cancer you witnessed the doctor telling a patient will end their days. (And kept the terrible news out of our eyes and off our face when we returned them to their rooms only to cry behind the console as we immediately take the next patient) • We hold the hands of the elderly who have fallen and are confused while trying our hardest to get diagnostic pictures so they can be treated accordingly • We try and calm down people as they are actively having a stroke so we can get a scan so meds can be given to save a live. • We are routinely physically attacked. • We have to communicate with nurses and doctors who are often dismissive because we are “only” an X-ray technologist • We run codes on patients on our CT tables and respond to every code in the hospital just like the rest of y’all • We are taking care of patients in the ENTIRE hospital.
I could go on but I will stop myself and end with this...TO ALL THE X-RAY TECHNOLOGISTS OUT THERE...I SEE YOU AND I THANK YOU!” 🖤
